REV X Les Roches Rouges

REV X Les Roches Rouges

From May 8th, Rêve En Vert will be hosting an exclusive summer pop-up dans Les Roches Rouges, a breathtaking yet understated hotel just opposite the Ile d’Or that tackles plastic pollution, serves local and seasonal food and is constantly seeking innovative ways of valuing the sea it sits next to. Read on to delve further into what makes this Riviera retreat so ahead of the game with its green factor, and to find everything you need for your own stylish, sustainable getaway.

What Does Sustainability Mean To You At Roches Rouges?

Being so close to the sea in such a beautiful location, we are always mindful of preserving our surrounding environment and minimising the impact we have on nature. Hotel Les Roches Rouges is located in a preserved natural environment opposite the Ile d’Or, between the pine and tamarisk trees and we want to ensure this area remains protected, so it can be enjoyed and admired by visitors and guests alike. Eco-tourism has always been important to us, as we offer guests the chance to soak in the exquisite surroundings and experience walking tours of the Estérel national forest with our guide, Joseph, the Office National des Forêts’ only official guide. He will take guests to hidden lakes, tell you about the flora and fauna, and sit under a mimosa or cork oak recounting tales of green vegetation, blue sea, and red rocks.

Could you briefly explain what you do, as a company, to minimise your carbon footprint and tackle the problem of plastic pollution at your hotels?

We have stopped when possible all single-use plastic across our hotels – straws, plastic bags, etc. We also do not offer any form of motorised water sports in an attempt to minimise ocean pollution. We use local produce where possible across our menus and our menus are inherently Provencale. We also work with fisherman from the neighbouring harbours who practice sustainable hook-and-line fishing and deliver their catch daily to the hotel. Jean-Louis Bissardon supplies us with delicious fruit juices and nectars. Jean-Louis Bissardon works closely with more than 250 arborists that belong to family farms which tend to promote sustainable agriculture of fruits. 95% of the fruits used in the Bissardon’s juices come from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpe orchards, in the surroundings of the Massif du Pilat and the Monts Lyonnais

Do you take any measures to encourage your guests to be more conscious during their stays?

We discourage single-use plastic, which we hope will resonate with guests and be something they take away with them. Furthermore, we do not offer motorised water sports, as we want to protect the ocean and hope that this in turn will also encourage guests to think about those smaller steps that we can all take to preserve our planet.

Why have you chosen to collaborate with Rêve En Vert?

Eco-consciousness and sustainability are such prevalent and important topics. Rêve En Vert are pioneering the concept that clothing and accessories can be sustainably conscious, without compromising on style or aesthetic. We want to be able to provide our guests with sustainable and honest luxury, allowing them to look exceptionally chic while also being mindful of the environment. We therefore felt the synergy between the two brands aligned perfectly and wanted to work alongside Rêve En Vert to produce a curated collection of items which represent quality, style and eco-awareness. As part of our commitment and ongoing efforts in sustainability, we wanted to try and keep the seas and oceans clean. By doing so, we wanted to offer products that have been created as a result of sea pollution – many of the Rêve En Vert brands do this.
