Woman Crush with Nitsa Citrine

Woman Crush Wednesday with Nitsa, the co-founder of Women With Superpowers & Sun Potion Superfoods

Nitsa, Can you give us a brief biography of your life thus far?

I’m a California native… born at home, in a little cabin perched over the Pacific Ocean in Big Sur. I got super lucky and was raised by two healthy and environmentally conscious parents. Studied ballet, film and writing in school which led to an interest in meditation, healing arts and sustainable agriculture and food systems…which ultimately inspired me to work with tonic herbs, alchemy, photography, design and a commitment to living the highest, healthiest quality of life imaginable.

I spent the last 5 years working with my partner Scott Linde in building Sun Potion as the company’s Creative Director. I recently moved from Santa Barbara to Los Angeles to work on my latest project – Women With Superpowers – a photo series and social movement celebrating inspiring women.

For me, having the power to nourish and heal through clean food and water is a human right and blessing, and something which I hope we can all work together to protect for ourselves and future generations.

Those of us in London may not have heard of your line, Sun Potions, yet but we love the sound of transformation foods. Can you tell us about it?

Sun Potion is a line of organic and and wild harvested tonic herbs and superfoods, the highest quality we have discovered and sourced from around the world and offered in the most bio-available form. These are beautiful, intelligent plants with a powerful lineage of healing and benefits to human health which support immunity, energy, mental function, hormonal balance, and beauty from the inside out.

Do you think nutrition can really be a source of healing?

Absolutely. Nourishment comes in many forms, through food, air, water, energy….for me, having the power to nourish and heal through clean food and water is a human right and blessing, and something which I hope we can all work together to protect for ourselves and future generations.
What defines wellness to you?
Wellness is existing in a state of gratitude, love, and presence. Also, feeling inspired in one’s body, heart, spirit and mind.

Do you have any sacred wellness rituals you can share with us?

Yes! I drink tea and eat tonic herbs every day.

We wanted to create something which honored all the amazing women artists, healers, activists and entrepreneurs in our lives…

We love the Instagram feed you co-created, Women With Superpowers, chronicling amazing women. What’s the inspiration behind it?

The project started as a photo series I was collaborating on with my friend Tasya van Ree. We wanted to create something which honored all the amazing women artists, healers, activists and entrepreneurs in our lives. We started shooting while on a trip to Mexico last October, an experience which was absolute magic – which and have been shooting ever since. The photo series has evolved into a multi-platform entity through which we hope to celebrate and empower women all over the world.

Do you consider yourself a feminist, and if so, why?

Yes I do, in the sense that I support equality and freedom for all beings.

Who is the most inspiring woman you’ve come across?

Every woman! Truly, the process of shooting so many powerful and uniquely stunning women for WWS has been infinitely inspiring and transformational. With this, working closely with Tasya this last year has also inspired me deeply… she is one of the kindest, most sensitive and yet strong human beings I have ever come across. Tasya inspires me to grow constantly – her work ethic is beyond – and her sincere dedication to creating beauty and truth is changing how I look at the world.

Finally, what does sustainable living mean to you?

Living in alignment and love with forces beyond me. Being aware of and honoring the connections between oneself and the entirety of the cosmos.

There is a quote from the poet Gary Snyder ( a favorite of mine) has always stuck with me…

“ To climb these coming crests one word to you, to you and your children: stay together learn the flowers go light “
