About Dan Buettner and Blue Zones Living

Dan Buettner is an internationally recognized researcher, explorer, Netflix Host & Co-producer of the 3x Emmy Award winning: Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones and New York Times best-selling author. He founded Blue Zones®, a company that puts the world’s best practices in longevity and well-being to work in people’s lives. Buettner’s November 2005 National Geographic article on longevity, “The Secrets of Living Longer,” was the cover story of one of the magazine’s top-selling issues in history.

“What does a 100 year old eat to live to 100? about 90% of all the calories they put in their mouth is whole, plant based food. The pillars of every longevity diet in the world? Whole grains, corn and rice, greens and garden vegetables, tubers like sweet potatoes, nuts are the snack, and then the number one protein source is beans. About a cup of beans a day is associated with about 4 extra years of life expectancy.”

“Don’t try to change your behavior if you really want to live longer, because you will fail. Things that really work to make us live longer, and be happier by the way, are a function of our surroundings…how we set up our homes, how we set up our social lives, how we set up our communities and our neighborhoods.”
