Not Just For Christmas: Our Favourite Sustainable & Eternal Gifts
With discarded wrapping paper, food and unwanted gifts, sadly Christmas is one of the most wasteful times of the year. Conscious gifting is something we think a lot about here at REV, and we always encourage to gift something that you know the recipient will truly love and appreciate. Inspired by our recent IGTV conversation with activist Giada Lubomirski, in this editorial we have put together some beautiful gift ideas that can be loved beyond Christmas, all which have our planet in mind.
Adopt An Animal
Adopting an animal of their behalf is an especially wonderful gift for children as it helps to teach them about endangered species as well as providing much needed support these charities require. Our Co-founder Cora and her husband adopted a panda from WWF on behalf of their niece last Christmas and it has brought her so much joy! She loves receiving regular updates and learning more about her animal throughout the year.
With WWF you can also donate to a campaigns on the behalf of friends or family. These campaigns are all committed to protecting wildlife and our planet.

All Year Round Hampers
With conscious consumption at their core, Social Supermarket is the UK’s largest social enterprise marketplace, selling a curation of products with purpose. We especially love their hampers for all year round – for gifting or as a treat to enjoy at home! Every purchase sends out ripples of change in that the companies they work with have both social and environmental justice at their core.
We are thrilled to share a special 10% off discount code for your first Social Supermarket purchase so you guys can all explore this amazing company yourselves! The code is REVSENTME10 and can be used at any time to try out one of their amazing hampers.
A Dinner To Look Forward To
With the financial devastation caused by the global pandemic this year, we at REV believe that supporting local businesses has never been more important. Sadly, with the rules and regulations, many of us are not able to visit our favourite restaurants and provide much needed business for them over the festive period.
We have discovered that most of our favourite restaurants are offering gift vouchers that can be used anytime throughout the New Year! If you’re local to us in London, we couldn’t recommend Westerns Laundry and their restaurant group enough for delicious, locally sourced food served in beautiful settings.

Plant A Tree
Since 2014, One Tree Planted has been able to plant more than 2.5 million trees around the world, thanks to just one dollar per tree. For every dollar that is donated in 2020, they will plant where trees are needed most. It should not have to be said that trees are essential for our survival. Not only do forests provide jobs for over 1.6 billion people but they clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, provide habitats for 80% of the world biodiversity, and trees are the key ingredient in 25% of all medicines.
With One Tree Planted you can plant trees on behalf of your friends or family – this truly is a sustainable gift that will last a lifetime!

Support Independent Book Sellers
Books and book vouchers will always make their way onto our Christmas wishlists, however we really try to avoid buying them from the Big Guy and support independent sellers instead. If you’re local to us in London, Daunt Books is our go-to as they have an extensive selection of reads for almost everyone – children and adults, fiction and non-fiction.
Their stores are truly beautiful spaces and we recommend just paying a visit to enjoy a peaceful hour or two browsing. Gift vouchers are available!

Plant Based Cook Books
Cook books are those books we love to have in our homes but rarely buy for ourselves – which makes them a wonderful gift idea! Encourage a loved one to eat in harmony with the planet and animals with a plant-based or vegetarian cookbook which is full of recipe inspiration!
Our friend Giada Lubomirski recommends Amy Chaplin, whose way of cooking is inspired by nature and the healing benefits of whole food ingredients. Anna Jones is another favourite food author of ours here at REV! Her new one pot recipe book is now available for pre-order and we can’t wait to have it in our kitchens.

Support Second Hand Sellers
A recommendation on how to gift more sustainably from our friend and activist Giada Lubomirski, is to buy from second hand stores. This is an especially great idea for children’s toys and clothes which have a much shorter life span! In these stores you can often find treasures in nearly perfect condition at much more affordable prices. If you’re based in the US, Giada couldn’t recommend Once Upon A Child enough!
