Why We Should Be Looking for Regenerative Organic Bedding – Antipodean Home
Our co-founder Cora Hilts reviews Antipodean Home – a regenerative bedding brand out of New Zealand, by making up her guest room in Maine with their gorgeous sheets and duvets that have as much heart as aesthetic.
“It was such a pleasure to find beautiful bedding that aligns with how much I have been looking to support brands working with regenerative agriculture and organic practices” – Cora Hilts
Who are Antipodean Home?
Antipodean Home is a regenerative organic bedding brand born out of New Zealand. They think a naturally healthy home is the foundation for a healthier, happier life. In Aotearoa New Zealand, they have a name for it – the Te Reo Maori word for ‘Guardianship’ or ‘Kaitiakitanga.’ It’s a way of living with Nature, not against it, to create a healthier, more sustainable world and for Antipodean, they believe the journey begins at home.
More Than Organic!
Antipodean works with regenerative cotton, wool, and other materials that come from climate-positive farms with revitalized soil to help remove and absorb excess carbon from the atmosphere. Their farmers use low-impact, regenerative methods that are free from harmful chemicals and pesticides to enhance the land’s natural functions.
Their organic wool comforters are made with ZQ-certified regenerative merino wool from New Zealand farms. These regenerative farms cover 3.7 million acres and focus on enriching soil health by removing excess carbon from the atmosphere (where there’s too much) and storing it in the soil (where there’s too little). Healthy soil stores more carbon, helping fight climate change.
Their regenerative organic cotton is produced by small-scale regenerative farmers that use 90% less water than conventional cotton. This means that their cotton fiber is stronger, longer, and softer than regular cotton.
Why Cora Loves Them.
I am always on the hunt for extremely healthy bedding given that we spend so much time in them and many sheets, duvets, etc. contain chemicals and pesticides that I do not want to be sleeping in. Antipodean Home have created a line that goes beyond organic and focuses on regenerative farming practices which I love.
They also have an incredible list of certifications, like OEKO-TEX, GOTS and Responsible Wool Standard just to name a few amongst others. You can see the full list here!
