The Brand Transforming The Hosiery Industry

“Pantyhose are women’s biggest consumable garment and also incredibly harmful to the environment. We started Swedish Stockings because we believed we could make a change. Sustainability and quality goes hand in hand. If we can create a product that women can wear for a longer time, then we can also buy less.”

— Linn Frisinger and Nadja Forsberg, Founders of Swedish Stockings

Making Re-Use Of Discarded Materials

After learning that traditional pantyhose are petroleum products planned for obsolescence, Swedish Stockings was founded with the mission to change and influence the entire hosiery industry towards sustainable production overall.

Currently, their collection consists of more than 80% recycled materials. This includes recycled polyamide, elastane and nylon. Their tights made from Amni Soul Eco® biodegradable polyamide are biodegradable in landfill. They also use sumptuous organic cotton, organic wool and cashmere for that luxurious touch.

Made Consciously In Italy With Ingenuity

Swedish Stockings products are knitted in Italy, not only because the Italians have been producing high quality hosiery for a long time, but also because the factories they work with have extremely high ethical, social and environmental standards.

The factories use energy from renewable resources, such as wind or solar. Most of them have their own solar panels, and produce between 35-80% of their own energy.

Recycling Club

Each year, 8 billion pairs of tights are produced, worn once and then discarded. This makes hosiery women’s biggest wear-and-tear clothing item. Through the Swedish Stockings recycling program they collect old, discarded tights and turn them in to designer tables in collaboration with Swedish designer Gustaf Westman. The life span of the tables then adds a considerable number of years to the total life cycle of the hosiery.
