Eco Essentials for Exercising at Home: Activewear, Accessories & Recovery
Curating our wellness rituals to consider our health and the health of our planet is incredibly important to us here at REV. In our Hidden Toxic Secrets Series on activewear we were shocked to learn that most conventional activewear and workout accessories contain chemicals and microplastics that could be very harmful to our own health. Luckily, we have some wonderful eco alternatives which are totally safe for you to use at home! Keep on reading to discover our favourites.
Indigo Luna’s activewear collection is made from GOTS certified organic cotton and sustainable viscose, making it beautifully soft and comfortable, ideal for your yoga flow. This certification means the cotton is grown without GMOs, without harmful chemicals such as fertilisers, pesticides and insecticides, and with traceability from the cotton fields to the final customer including transaction certificates at each step.
The super soft activewear we’re wearing to workout…and to relax in! Barrio Santo’s line comprises mainly of organic cotton fabric and they make a point to ensure all other materials used are recycled, recyclable or compostable. Each Barrio Santo piece is made ethically in Portugal from start to finish and all suppliers are GOTS certified and adhere to the highest sustainability regulations.*
Modern Exercise Goods
Rollers are your ‘at home’ masseuse – a gentle post-workout roll helps to massage out any kinks and aid recovery – our go to for after a run! Meg offer an eco alternative to otherwise synthetic rollers that are just as, if not more effective. Their range is made from natural cork and non-toxic binding agent, is naturally anti-microbial and biodegradable. We also love to use the cork block as part of our at home yoga flow to help with alignment and flexibility!
Complete Unity Yoga
An absolute favourite amongst the REV team and our customers, we highly recommend A Complete Unity Yoga’s yoga mats! Unlike most synthetic mats, they are made from natural biodegradable materials. The jute fabric mixed with rubber on top gives a durable, tactile and pleasantly natural surface to work on whilst providing excellent grip. It will enable you to practise and flow while deeply connected to nature.
The natural accessory we’re using to keep our yoga space neat and tidy! These beautiful yoga mat tubes by Mache are ethically crafted from natural and renewable resources that are totally safe to use and keep in our homes. The design and manufacturing process of these yoga storage accessories promotes wellness from a biological level, by eliminating the use of harmful Red List Materials (heavy metals and chemicals).*
The newest addition to our wellness collection, Amodern Alchemy’s Superhuman Essential Powder is designed to help fortify the immune system, combat the effects of everyday stress and support performance. Superhuman has a functional and considered organic formulation with amazing ingredients including Ashwagandha, Astragalus, Eleuthero, and Rhodiola.
To naturally support immunity as part of our holistic wellness ritual, we also love Wunder Workshop’s line of turmeric based products. We like to take a spoonful of their Turmeric honey daily in our tea, smoothies or porridge. Turmeric, coconut oil and honey are three of the most powerful anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting ingredients.
To Soothe Muscles
The ultimate self-care treat, Wild Source’s Bath Soak is a detoxifying blend of epsom, dead sea and Himalayan pink salts perfect for when you’re feeling a little achy after workouts designed to help loosen muscle tension and aid relaxation.
After a bath soak, we love to apply a natural body oil. A replenishing, all over body treatment, Maryse’s Multi Vitamin Body Oil features a concentrated botanical formula to leave your skin feeling supple and revitalised. Best applied to damp skin!
