REV’s Guide To An Ethical Baby Registry
We asked Rev’s Head of Brand Partnerships and mom to Ayla, @taylorblair1, to share with us how to build a sustainably minded baby registry. It can be hard to figure out what you really need for the postpartum period and the newborn stage in a world that is plagued with overconsumption. Taylor really believes less is more when it comes to the first few months, but her guide is based off her own personal experience. Below you’ll find Taylor’s postpartum essentials and eco baby essentials!
Thank you to all the brands below that made this editorial possible!

Milky Oat’s Organic Postpartum Delivery Service
I can’t recommend a meal delivery service more. Having your meals taken care of for the first 42 days (at least) means that you and your partner can recover and soak up your newborn without having to stress about cooking or meal prep. If you are California based, then look no further than Milky Oat. They are a postpartum meal delivery service that provides amazing and organic postpartum nourishment. They provide many different options, but I can’t recommend their six-week plan enough because those first 42 days post birth are so key to rest and nourish yourself. Food and nutrition play such a huge role in both recovery and sustaining yourself while you breastfeed. I truly have never been so hungry as when I’m breastfeeding! Luckily, Milky Oat provides not just delicious meals but wonderful snacks and drinks that can even help with lactation. They also have incredible tinctures and a botanical ghee that you can get nationwide, so even if you are out of state, you can still get your hands on the Milky Oat goodness. They have tinctures for lactation, energy, immune support, and emotional support – all things new moms need on hand!
Jorgen House Ethical Maternity Wear
I love nothing more than pieces that will last you through different stages of life – pregnancy, postpartum and beyond. Jorgen House’s maternity wear is a registry must as they make the most comfortable and supportive bras, leggings, and tops that you can live in during the postpartum period. Their nursing bras especially are my personal go-to – they are comfy enough to wear to sleep! They allow easy and effortless access to the breast so baby can feed with ease.
Charlie Crane LEVO Rocker
I think some kind of rocker is an essential and a perfect thing to add to a registry as they can be on the expensive side. We loved our Charlie Crane LEVO baby rocker because it will last your baby around seven months, and it is made from great materials that are responsibly sourced. A rocker can be a great tool to soothe baby when it feels like nothing else will work! Plus, you always need somewhere safe and comfy to put baby when you need a break.
DYPER Delivery Service
DYPER are my go-to eco diaper in the US because they are the most responsibly made disposable diaper on the market. They are 100% transparent about their entire supply chain and materials so you can really find out exactly what is going on your baby’s bottom. Their delivery and pickup service is such a perfect addition to your baby registry, because REDYPER™ program ensures that diapers don’t just sit in landfill. They have partnered with a select group of licensed facilities that take the DYPER diapers and wipes and turn them into compost them into soil in just 14-16 weeks! Such an amazing initiative. This service is currently available in Los Angeles, Nashville, Austin, New York, Philadelphia, and in the Bay Area.
Mini Bloom Natural Baby Care
Natural nappy cream and bath care can be hard to find but Mini Bloom creates my favourite products that are completely safe for baby and thoughtfully made. Their nappy cream continues to be a staple in our home, and we have been using it since our baby was just a few weeks old – it cures nappy rash overnight. The Mini Bloom Discovery Kit has everything you need – from diaper rash relief cream to organic nipple balm, to hair and body wash. Their products are always free of parabens, sulfates, silicones, toxins, synthetic fragrance, and harsh ingredients. They always use organic plant-based ingredients whenever possible, and their packaging is fully recyclable or even biodegradable.
Lovevery Play Mat and Toys
I am a huge fan of Lovevery because all their play kits are created with responsible and considered materials, with toys designed for different stages of development. You can add their subscription service to your registry, and you will receive new toys as your baby grows. Their Play Gym is a registry essential – we absolutely loved ours and it was brilliant for tummy time, and it was wonderful entertainment when our baby wasn’t mobile yet. The play mat is made with sustainably sourced wood, baby safe materials like organic cotton, and everything is thoroughly tested, and shipped carbon neutral.
Nontoxic and Organic Baby Clothes
You can never go wrong with adding organic baby clothes to your registry. My favourite brand is Pehr as they make a variety of baby essentials that are all made with 100% organic cotton. Their onesies are incredibly soft, easy to get on, and come in the cutest patterns. Their baby clothing bundles are a perfect gift as they come with essentials. In the early days, I kept our baby just in a diaper so we were getting as much skin to skin as possible so don’t go too crazy with clothes! They also grow so rapidly…so only a few bits of necessary for those early months.
Nuna’s Non-Toxic MESA Infant Car Seat
Car seats can be expensive, so it is a great gift to ask friends and family for. Finding a nontoxic car seat is incredibly hard! Nuna make my favourite car seats because they use environmentally friendly merino wool Tencel. Additionally, Nuna don’t spray their products with fire retardant. Most conventional brands do! It also fits into lots of different strollers, making it easy to transfer a sleeping baby from car to stroller.
Artipoppe Baby Carrier
16 months into motherhood and I still use my Artipoppe carrier every single day. My carrier has been with me since my baby was a few weeks old. It is how I got her to sleep and how I got things done! A must add to your registry…They come in a variety of colors and patterns, but the brand only uses natural and safe materials like organic cotton or hemp. The Zeitgeist Baby Carrier is my favourite as it is so comfy and supportive. The Winter Insert is a must if your little one is born around the cooler months as it keeps little one snug!
