What Are the Best Natural Ingredients to Look for in Eye Creams?

When I look for eye creams made from organic ingredients, I look to avoid synthetic fragrances, harsh additives, and unnecessary chemicals and fillers. I love ingredients like calendula, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, green tea, sea buckthorn, plum oil, aloe vera, chamomile, and more. Formulas that contain these star ingredients are often gentle and soothing.

Are Natural Eye Creams Effective for Dark Circles and Puffiness?

Eye creams can 100% help with dark circles and puffiness, but some of this has to do with genetics and lifestyle. You may find that if you eat too much salt then your entire face and eye area may be more puffy the next morning. As we all know if you don’t sleep enough, then your eyes usually show it with dark circles and extra puff.

If I wake up with puffy, sore, and dark under-eyes I reach for some of my favorite eye creams for the morning and a cold facial tool to calm and soften the area.

Can Natural Eye Creams Help Reduce Fine Lines Around the Eyes?

With consistent use, natural skincare can seriously transform the skin. While your wrinkles and lines won’t vanish, you may notice the lines soften! As we age, our skin begins to lose collagen so finding natural skincare that plumps the skin is essential. The eye area is usually the first place to have lines, so looking after this area key but at the end of the day there is truly nothing wrong with fine lines – we usually gain them from lots of smiles!

How Do I Choose the Right Natural Eye Cream for My Skin Type?

For dry skin:
If you find your undereyes are incredibly dry and your makeup settles into the lines under your eyes, I highly recommend reaching for a thicker eye cream. The Botanical E Eye Balm by One Love Organics is amazing because it is a thick, masque like texture that leaves the skin super smooth and soft. It contains sea kelp that helps to firm the skin, pomegranate, shea butter and E oil to deeply moisturize the driest of skins! Gotu kola and rooibos tea work together to bring back radiance to dark undereyes too. If you have oily skin, I would recommend using this eye cream more as a treatment rather than an everyday eye cream!

For sensitive skin:
Sensitive skin can be tricky as every individual has a different level of reactiveness with their skin. Some skin types get red and irritated very easily so always make sure you patch test if this is you! For sensitive skin, I love keeping things very simple and without too many ingredients. The Pure Unscented Regenerative Tallow by Summer Solace is a fantastic all over balm for super sensitive skin – it is greatly loved by those who suffer from skin conditions. It can be used under the eyes, if you have any dry patches, or all over the entire body if you want! Tallow is a powerful ingredient and is full of vitamins A, D, K, E, and B12 – incredible for the skin.

For dark circles:
There are a lot of amazing natural eye creams for dark circles on the market but one of my go-to creams that works is Forest Alchemy Eye Cream by Ursa Major. It is an ultra-rich and nourishing eye cream that hydrates and brightens. It is powered by clean actives to lighten stubborn dark circles, depuff and leave the skin smooth. In this cream you will find tremella, which holds 500x its weight in water to help the eye area appear smoother and much more hydrated. Chaga helps to ease the appearance of dark circles and reduce hyperpigmentation while horse chestnut helps fade fine lines.

For puffiness:
I love the Resurrection Radiance Eye Cream by True Botanicals to combat puffiness! 94% of women tested showed a significant reduction in puffiness around the area after 6 weeks of use, which is pretty incredible. It contains some special ingredients that other eye creams just don’t contain. It is formulated with the resurrection plant, which has a moisture-retention complex that helps it survive harsh conditions and that same compound helps to hydrate and revive the eye area. It also contains tree bark extract, turmeric, coffee and licorice extract which all work together to depuff, brighten, smooth, and hydrate the under eye area.

For fine lines:
Maya Chia makes some of my favorite products as they always formulate with incredible ingredients. Their Advanced Eye Response Complex is a great pick if you are trying to fight fine lines and wrinkles along with dark circles, puffiness, and dryness. It contains natural retinol, peptides, vitamin C, algaes, and ayurvedic extracts that work together to form a real powerhouse! It helps support the skin’s protective barrier while also restoring firmness and elasticity in the eye area.

Always patch test first—natural ingredients can still cause reactions for some people!
