REV On Air: Soil As The Key to Health With Boniface Verney-Carron and Arizona Muse of DIRT Charity
This podcast episode is a part of the REV x DIRT Charity Regenerative Podcast Series!
In our opening episode of our brand new regenerative podcast series in collaboration with UK based DIRT Charity, we speak to DIRT founder, Arizona Muse and her husband Boniface Verney-Carron. We are so excited to be opening with this episode as it gives a holistic view of what DIRT Charity is all about and also how soil health is connected to the microbiome and plays a role in the larger ecosystem of life. Arizona shares with us how fashion waste can become an asset rather than burden within a circular ecosystem and Boniface shares his view as an osteopath, for how soil health can contribute to a healthy bodily system through healing the microbiome. Both these takes on the importance of soil health have interconnecting facets and make for a fascinating conversation so we hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
“When we talk about fashion waste, we could actually talk about fashion soil food. Imagine that, that is transformational to this industry that is creating piles of waste all over the world that are cliffs and that are burying people, and soil, and biodiversity life, in all corners of the world.”

About Dirt Charity:
DIRT IS A CHARITY WORKING GLOBALLY TO TURN FASHION INTO A CLIMATE SOLUTION.
Fashion is grown in soil, and the way we currently grow our raw materials causes tremendous harm to soil, and is a catalyst for climate change. We could grow fashion crops in a way that heals soil and restores nature to full health and thriving biodiversity. Regenerating soil is a long term solution and the fastest answer we have to climate change.
DIRT work with Biodynamic agriculture which is a powerful nature-based solution for farming and the processing of farm grown materials. Their goal is to bring fashion’s sourcing power behind soil regeneration globally. Their mission is to grow and process all fashion’s raw materials biodynamically.
“Sapiens on this planet can eat between 250-300,000 types of plants, so it means that your body is capable of ingesting this huge variety of plants and digesting them – it takes something good for you from within them. However, 75% of the Westernised World now eats primarily 4 crops.”

SUPPORT DIRT'S WORK
“I was looking around for the best, most effective solution to the problems that we face and the answer was soil regeneration. That is the fastest, least expensive and most efficient tool we have, in our systems change that we need to do, in the progress toward ecosystem regeneration.” – Arizona Muse
