Our Eco Hotel Series: Wildflower Farms, Auberge Resorts Collection
Our co-founder, Cora Hilts, spent a romantic weekend in the Hudson Valley with her husband Jamie. They stayed at Wildflower Farms, Auberge Resorts Collection. This hotel is dedicated to sustainable practices. The hotel is part of a community solar project, reducing its carbon footprint. It also cuts greenhouse gas emissions, and supplies power to local communities. Other green practices include composting, reusing water from storms, and recycling.
Thank you to our friends at Wildflower Farms for making this editorial possible!
Why We Love It!
is a stunning and mindful resort set on 140 quiet acres in New York’s Hudson Valley. Just 90 minutes from New York City, the resort offers a lush escape. It focuses on nature and wellness, surrounded by the area’s natural beauty.
Energy Efficient
Most importantly to us, Wildflower Auberge is one of the greenest hotels in the country. The project earned the ENERGY STAR Certification. It met the tough energy efficiency standards from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. They also use community solar. This lowers their carbon footprint and helps cut greenhouse gas emissions. Plus, it supports the local economy by providing clean, locally generated electricity.
The Farm
The large grounds feature orchards, animals, heirloom gardens, and a farm. Wildflower fields add beauty. This space offers an oasis for urban visitors who lack access to green areas. Opened in 2022, Wildflower Farms, part of Auberge Resorts Collection, connects guests with nature. Guests can enjoy nature-inspired design, custom guesthouses, top-quality cuisine, and unique outdoor activities.
Warm interiors
The interiors feature warm woods and hand-blown glass fixtures. They also include quilted fabrics and house prints. The colors reflect the seasons, like sage, goldenrod, burnt umber, and aubergine. The property includes sustainable design measures and materials. It features vintage pieces that have been carefully sourced.
Farm-to-fork dining
Here, it’s easy to eat well with harvest-led, farm-to-fork dining. Wildflower Farms offers three unique dining spots, an on-site cooking school, and a farm education center. It also features a diverse schedule of weekly events. This makes it a true culinary destination that celebrates the land and its ability to nourish the body inside and out. The cuisine here changes with the seasons. It focuses on produce grown onsite or sourced from local suppliers who use sustainable farming practices. Guests can enjoy culinary-themed experiences. For example, in the fall, guests can learn to grow wild leeks sustainably.
