Susanne describes her cosmetic line as “responsible, effective, and nontoxic.” All of her products are made up of biotech active ingredients, and by working this way, they are able to create incredible (and effective) products that do not contain parabens, silicones, or any other nasty ingredients. Instead, the brand uses natural equivalents, which also happen to be even more effective for the skin too. Susanne Kaufmann is such a unique brand, not only with their incredible formulas, but with their philosophy, “Beauty to us means complete transparency.”

From the very beginning, Kaufmann was always passionate about using local and organic plant-based ingredients. When she first founded her line, she was deeply inspired by the alpine plants in her region, and the knowledge that had been passed down through generations in the Bregenzerwald area.  

“Some of our products capture the unique stories of the local region, Vorarlberg, Austria. Herbs such as rosemary, and thyme are cultivated locally by a gardener in Vorarlberg, and the beautiful pine found in our bath oils is sourced from the forest behind our production house.” Susanne Kaufmann blends natural plant-based ingredients with cutting edge scientific developments and bio technologies to create skincare and body care that actually makes a difference.

No energy is ever wasted.

Susanne Kaufmann’s production facility, which has been in operation for over 17 years, runs completely on solar, thermal, and green electricity sources, which is incredibly unique to the brand. All of that energy is recycled, ensuring no energy is ever wasted. The residual heat is fed back into underground pipes and stored for future use. Even the water used to create their products comes directly from their producer’s own personal spring, which is filtered through a system that cleans, energies, and mineralizes the water. 

You can really see the brands commitment to sustainability in their packaging. From using post-consumer materials to glass bottles to their amazing refills. The brands new product refills are made from 75% recycled plastic and are 100% recyclable, meaning you can keep your favourite glass product for years and years by simply refilling them as you need.

Each product from Susanne Kaufmann is special, from the inspiration behind it to the natural ingredients to the effect it has on the skin. Paying tribute to the brands Austrian heritage, a lot of Kaufmann’s products are inspired by the design and craftsmanship of her home country.

The diffuser reeds in the cult favourite Balancing Room Diffuser are even sourced from a carpenter 10 kilometers away from the brands production house, who uses wood from local trees. Another must-have is the Obsidian Face Roller, which was designed by Susanne’s brother, Oskar Leo Kaufmann, who is a renowned architect. The gorgeous face tool features black Obsidian stone from South Tyrol, which is hand cut and finished by local craftsmen.
