Our Favourite Eco Hotels in Los Angeles
As travel becomes a bit safer, we are thinking a bit about how we will eventually go back to traveling as consciously as possible. After a bit of a rainy summer here in the UK, the sunny coast of Los Angeles has been calling to us and we were thrilled to see so many incredibly eco-friendly hotels in LA. We wanted to share our top five for anyone looking to support sustainable travel that really connects you to the local community and environment.
The Surfrider
Located on the picturesque Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, The Surfrider Hotel is a must if you’re heading to LA or looking to do a staycation in our own city! Their rooftop and guest only restaurant and bar, serves up incredible organic and sustainably minded wines and dishes. In each room, you’ll find the amazing Grown Alchemist products, which are all organic and made with the cleanest ingredients. The minibars are stocked with all local Californian snacks and drinks.
Shore Hotel
The Shore Hotel is Santa Monica’s First LEED Gold Certified Hotel. Located moments away from the beach, the hotel is perched behind cliffs on Ocean Blvd. Their swimming pool is heated by solar energy and their elevator pulley system is designed to save up to 75% more energy than conventional elevators. The hotel’s entire design has the climate in mind and they are incredibly transparent about all their efforts!
The Ambrose Hotel
In 2007, The Ambrose Hotel was the first in the United States to earn the prestigious LEED EB certification. Since then this Santa Monica hotel has continued to be more and more sustainable, each and every year. All electronics and systems throughout the hotel are Energy Star Certified and our energy usage is tracked, monitored, and managed closely. Annual water efficiency has been maximized to reduce the burden on our potable water supply and wastewater system.
