Masseria Moroseta – Your Next Eco Retreat

Masseria Moroseta - Italy's Gorgeous Green Hotel

Your Next Retreat & What To Pack

If reclining next to a tranquil infinity pool in the heart of a five-hectare olive grove overlooking the Mediterranean coast sounds like your kind of getaway, this one’s for you…

Puglia, the Italian region best known for its rustic hilltop villages, is home to Masseria Moroseta; a contemporary farmhouse that is both angelic and eco-centric. Founder Carlo Lanzini teamed up with designer Andrew Trotter to bring his dream of owning a quiet rural refuge to life, as sustainably as possible.  The result: a beautiful whitewashed sandstone building surrounded by succulents and powered by the sun, with an open structure that eliminates the need for excessive air conditioning.

The interior is equally inticing; bringing together traditional materials and minimal furnishings, recycled where possible, to create a seamless interpretation of our favourite concept: less is more.  For those of you as eager as we are to escape the humdrum and book a trip to this quaint little haven, we’ve taken away the stress of packing with our morning to evening style guide…

A.M.’s away from the office are best begun in the shade, with fruit, wearing something laid-back and lightweight. The Syros dress by A Perfect Nomad is our personal choice. Made from smooth draping organic matka silk, this backless number is perfect for showing off or topping up a tan. Style her with some sunglasses of equal elegance, like this light bark pair by EOE, made from 100% biodegradable and recyclable acetate.

It would be criminal not to do our bit to fight ocean plastic pollution with the breathtaking Adriatic Sea peaking through the horizon. Thankfully, taking a dip just got a whole lot more sustainable, courtesy of Ocin’s consciously crafted bikinis and one-pieces, produced using recycled and regenerated nylon yarns as well as discarded fishing nets. Poolside essentials are best carried in a turtle-bag, made of GOTS certified organic cotton.

Faded recycled wood tables, energy saving lights, and a tree beside every diner…idyllic is one word for this evening set-up.  In terms of ensembles, the plant-dyed, organic cotton Veren dress by Yoli and Otis is the perfect piece for dining en plein air. We also recommend leaving the heels behind and heading down to the terrace in a pair of D’arçé sandals. Made from responsibly sourced, vegetable tanned leather, these stylish flats are the most comfortable means of displaying those summer pedicures.
