Organic postpartum meal delivery

Milky Oat’s Organic Postpartum Delivery Service

I can’t recommend a meal delivery service more. Having your meals taken care of for the first 42 days (at least) means that you and your partner can recover and soak up your newborn without having to stress about cooking or meal prep. If you are California based, then look no further than  Milky Oat. They are a postpartum meal delivery service that provides amazing and organic postpartum nourishment. They provide many different options, but I can’t recommend their six-week plan enough because those first 42 days post birth are so key to rest and nourish yourself.

Food and nutrition play such a huge role in both recovery and sustaining yourself while you breastfeed. I truly have never been so hungry as when I’m breastfeeding! Luckily, Milky Oat provides not just delicious meals but wonderful snacks and drinks that can even help with lactation. They also have incredible tinctures and a botanical ghee that you can get nationwide, so even if you are out of state, you can still get your hands on the Milky Oat goodness. They have tinctures for lactation, energy, immune support, and emotional support. All things new moms need on hand! And a perfect non toxic item to add to your baby registry.

Jorgen House organic maternity wear

Jorgen House Ethical Maternity Wear

I love nothing more than pieces that will last you through different stages of life. Pregnancy, postpartum and beyond. Jorgen House’s maternity wear is a non toxic registry must! They make the most comfortable and supportive bras, leggings, and tops that you can live in during the postpartum period. Their nursing bras especially are my personal go-to – they are comfy enough to wear to sleep! They allow easy and effortless access to the breast so baby can feed with ease.

An eco baby rocker

Charlie Crane LEVO Rocker

I think some kind of rocker is an essential and a perfect thing to add to a non toxic registry as they can be on the expensive side. We loved our Charlie Crane LEVO baby rocker because it will last your baby around seven months, and it is made from great materials that are responsibly sourced. A rocker can be a great tool to soothe baby when it feels like nothing else will work! Plus, you always need somewhere safe and comfy to put baby when you need a break.

Non toxic diapers for a baby registry

DYPER Delivery Service

DYPER are my go-to eco diaper in the US because they are the most responsibly made disposable diaper on the market. They are 100% transparent about their entire supply chain and materials so you can really find out exactly what is going on your baby’s bottom. Their delivery and pickup service is such a perfect addition to your non toxic baby registry. Their REDYPER™ program ensures that diapers don’t just sit in landfill. They have partnered with a select group of licensed facilities that take the DYPER diapers and wipes and turn them into compost them into soil in just 14-16 weeks! Such an amazing initiative. This service is currently available in Los Angeles, Nashville, Austin, New York, Philadelphia, and in the Bay Area.

Organic skincare for a non toxic baby registry

Mini Bloom Natural Baby Care

Natural nappy cream and bath care can be hard to find but Mini Bloom creates my favorite products that are completely safe for baby and thoughtfully made. Their nappy cream continues to be a staple in our home, and we have been using it since our baby was just a few weeks old. It cures nappy rash overnight. The Mini Bloom Discovery Kit has everything you need. From diaper rash relief cream to organic nipple balm, to hair and body wash. Their products are always free of parabens, sulfates, silicones, toxins, synthetic fragrance, and harsh ingredients. They always use organic plant-based ingredients whenever possible, and their packaging is fully recyclable or even biodegradable. A wonderful item to add to your non toxic baby registry,

Non toxic play mat for a baby registry

Lovevery Play Mat and Toys

I am a huge fan of Lovevery because all their play kits are created with responsible and considered materials, with toys designed for different stages of development. You can add their subscription service to your registry, and you will receive new toys as your baby grows. Their Play Gym is a non toxic baby registry essential. We absolutely loved ours and it was brilliant for tummy time, and it was wonderful entertainment when our baby wasn’t mobile yet. The play mat is made with sustainably sourced wood, baby safe materials like organic cotton, and everything is thoroughly tested, and shipped carbon neutral.

Organic baby clothing

Nontoxic and Organic Baby Clothes

You can never go wrong with adding organic baby clothes to your registry. My favorite brand is Pehr as they make a variety of baby essentials that are all made with 100% organic cotton. Their onesies are incredibly soft, easy to get on, and come in the cutest patterns. Their baby clothing bundles are a perfect gift as they come with essentials. In the early days, I kept our baby just in a diaper so we were getting as much skin to skin as possible so don’t go too crazy with clothes! They also grow so rapidly…so only a few bits of necessary for those early months.

nuna baby car seat

Nuna’s Non-Toxic MESA Infant Car Seat

Car seats can be expensive, so it is a great gift to ask friends and family for. Finding a nontoxic car seat is incredibly hard! Nuna make my favorite car seats because they use environmentally friendly merino wool Tencel. Additionally, Nuna don’t spray their products with fire retardant. Most conventional brands do! It also fits into lots of different strollers, making it easy to transfer a sleeping baby from car to stroller.

Artipoppe Baby Carrier

16 months into motherhood and I still use my Artipoppe carrier every single day. My carrier has been with me since my baby was a few weeks old. It is how I got her to sleep and how I got things done! A must add to your registry…They come in a variety of colors and patterns, but the brand only uses natural and safe materials like organic cotton or hemp. The Zeitgeist Baby Carrier is my favourite as it is so comfy and supportive. The Winter Insert is a must if your little one is born around the cooler months as it keeps little one snug!

“Tights are the plastic straw of fashion”

For those who are new to the brand, could you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about how Swedish Stockings was born?

The idea of Swedish Stockings was born after I watched a documentary about the environmental challenges posed by the hosiery industry. The documentary displayed products with planned obsolescence to incite a more rapid consumption rate – tights being a striking example. It revealed that 8 billion tights are discarded every year, and I was inspired to address a pressing issue within the fashion sector – having no former experience within the industry. I spent most of my life working in the finance sector and had no plan to work within the fashion industry before watching the documentary. However the idea of sustainable tights grew stronger, and a desire to address the critical concern of tights being seen as a disposable wear-and-tear item shortly resulted in the founding of Swedish Stockings – the world’s first sustainable hosiery brand.

Can you tell us a bit about the environmental impact of conventional stockings?

During the past few decades, tights have been treated as a wear-and-tear item and I often refer to tights as the fashion industry’s plastic straw. Shockingly, throwing away a single pair of tights is equivalent to throwing away 20 plastic bottles – something many people are unaware of. The belief itself, that tights are a wear-and-tear item, contributes to the overall environmental impact of stockings. It is important to understand that tights are originally made from petroleum, and we can’t view them as disposable items. The throwaway culture has only magnified the environmental toll, where millions of tights are being discarded each year contributing to the growing textile waste crisis.

How do Swedish Stockings differ from conventional hosiery brands?

We aim to differ through our commitment to sustainability and innovation. All Swedish Stockings tights are made from recycled and natural materials and are produced in zero-waste factories in Italy. Moreover, we go beyond production by offering a take-back program for tights of any brand. For next year, we strive to collect more tights than we produce. One of our missions is to transform the fashion industry by underlining partnerships. Sharing our expertise in high-quality sustainable tights as well as inspiring others to join us. We believe partnership is the new leadership.

What inspired your decision to manufacture your stockings in Italy?

A fundamental aspect of having production in Italy is that traceability in Italy is supreme. The village where our production takes place has a long history of tights manufacturing. This does for instance contribute to an impressive expertise built upon many years within the business but it also implies that all necessary factories are conveniently located close to each other, which is great from a sustainable point of view.

Can you tell us a bit about how you ensure longevity with your products?

Longevity is the highest form of sustainability. While we are determined to produce tights that stand the test of time, it is important to point out that tights do eventually break. We are actively exploring creative solutions for recycling and repurposing. While there are increasing opportunities to recycle a product back into its original form, we constantly look for ways to transform used tights into something entirely new.

A prime example is our collaboration with Gustaf Westman, where tights are given a second life as beautiful tables – an inspiring testament to circular design.

Furthermore, longevity is founded on good quality products. It is important to understand that several aspects are being included in the sustainability spectra – and good quality is one of them. We refuse to compromise on quality because we understand that durability is a cornerstone of sustainability.

What’s been the highlight of the journey so far?

There have been countless memorable moments over the years, making it particularly difficult to highlight just one. With that being said, winning the “Årets Blickfång” at the ELLE Gala in Stockholm stands out as an unforgettable milestone. Getting that recognition at such an early stage was incredibly validating. And somewhat gave a testament to the vision we were striving to bring to life.

Another defining milestone for us marks one of our first branded collaborations with Danish brand Ganni. Let alone our most recent extended Rosa Lace Tights collection with Reformation. These partnerships play a crucial role in showcasing our approach to sustainable fashion. They are especially meaningful when shared with brands that share our core values. To partner up with like-minded brands such as Ganni and Reformation is not only about creating fashionable hosiery for all but also spreading awareness of our mission to redefine fashion responsibly.

Is there an element of trial and error when it comes to perfecting your products? Tell us about the challenges you’ve had to overcome when building your brand

The process of building Swedish Stockings has been a true exercise in problem-solving. Coming from outside of the fashion industry, every step was an uphill climb. Both tackling the tiniest problems as well as overcoming unexpected challenges. Coming from a background in finance and business administration, I had very little experience in the fashion industry.

One of the very first problems we faced was finding a recycled thread – it took weeks of searching! And when we finally found it – we discovered that the manufacturer had no experience in producing tights. And so on, another process took place and so it carried on. It has been a journey, solving one problem after another. But in hindsight, it is the challenges that define who we are today. A brand built upon innovation and the determination to never settle for less-than-sustainable, high-quality products.

It’s so great to see sustainable brands going above and beyond. Could you tell us about The Recycling Club and your collaboration with furniture designer Gustaf Westman?

We are constantly in the process of finding new ways to prolong the life of tights. Our collaboration with Gustaf Westman is one of them. This collaboration shows that there are other ways to prolong the life of tights – other than recreating another wear-and-tear item.

The Recycling Club is a project we initiated for people to recycle their used tights to give them another life. We collect all tights, no matter the brand.  As I mentioned before, we have a mission for next year to collect more tights than we produce.

How would you suggest best caring for your products to make sure stockings last as long as possible?

To ensure that your tights last longer, proper care is essential. Our detailed Care Guide provides customers with more practical tips. Such as air drying your tights to preserve quality and avoid wash softeners to maintain elasticity. One of my personal tips is to take proper care of your hands and feet. Keeping them soft and smooth prevents accidental snags. And, if you are wearing shoes, adding an extra sock can help protect your tights from snagging on sharp zippers or small stones.

We know you just launched a collaboration with Camille Charriere which is so lovely, can you tell us a bit about why this was an important partnership for you?

Camille is known for her love of vintage clothing and impeccable personal style, she’s a fashion muse. We have co-designed 4 pairs of tights with her that makes the ultimate tights repertoire. By partnering with Camille we show that tights are the perfect fashion accessory and wardrobe staple you can use to renew the same dress in many different ways.

Lastly, we’d love to know: which is your favourite pair of stockings to style and how?

My all-time favourite is our Olivia Premium Tights. They are classic and work for any occasion. What makes Olivia stand out is the range of colourways – allowing you to alternate between different moods and styles to suit any setting. Currently, my favorite is Olivia in the color Mole – it adds a softer, more understated impression to any look. Beyond Olivia – our Tora Shimmery Tights are the perfect choice for the holiday party season, adding the perfect amount of sparkle to your festive outfits.

Sustainably foraged Christmas tree with decorations by Bess Piergrossi for Rêve En Vert

Foraged Christmas decor @besspier

First of all, can you tell us why you prefer foraging for your own Christmas decor rather than purchasing it?

I didn’t grow up celebrating Christmas extravagantly, it was rather simple, so purchased holiday decor doesn’t hold that much significance to me––there’s not a lot of nostalgia there when I see something like a Santa.  We celebrated the advent and the solstice, which is all about bringing light and warmth into your home during the darkest days of the year, and this tradition has stuck with me the most. It’s also allowed me to have a total blank slate or canvas when it comes to holiday decorating. I’ve gotten to create my own vision of what brings me joy and festivity around the holidays, instead of getting pulled towards the mainstream’s version.

Where is the first place you look to for gathering your foraged items?

After gardening all year long and looking mostly down at the garden beds, the first shift I make when starting to forage for the holidays is to start looking up— into the trees, what shapes and colors do I see that I find interesting. This all starts in the backyard, and then we move into the surrounding forests and forage throughout the woods.

Sustainably foraging a tree in Maine

What are some of the best plants to look for when foraging?

It depends on how you’re planning to use them. A plain branch can be a fantastic find– you can place it in a jar or vase, and hang small ornaments or bows on the branches, or sometimes I like to hang a large 8 foot branch above our dining room table. It makes the room feel so cozy –like there are roots above us, like we’re in a burrow. I like that nestled feeling for winter. Evergreens are always a favorite– any type of greenery, whether it be pine, fir, juniper, holly, you name it. A simple bit of greenery is the essence of the holidays. And then there are things that I love to add textural interest– dried flowers, hydrangea tops, seed pods, grasses, thorn branches…. It can really be a vast combination.

For anyone in a warmer climate, any tips for how they might think about foraging different sort of plants?

I don’t have any experience foraging in a warmer climate, so I’m not too familiar with what’s available this time of year in other parts of the country– but the first thing that comes to mind is fruit— citrus is so special during the holiday season. I’m sure the greenery on any fruit tree, paired with the fruit itself would be such a beautiful thing to add into holiday decor. Similarly, how I mentioned something as simple as decorating with a branch, this could be adopted in any location.

Examples of sustainably foraged items in the home

“To me it’s more about the process of creating that builds the beauty, and less about what I want it to look like in the end, so I never care too much about how long the decoration lasts. By the time I’m finished, I’ve already scratched my itch of working with my hands and creating beauty, and the end result is always better than if I planned things too intricately.”

~ Bess Piergrossi

How do you think about putting things together for the most beautiful output?

It really depends on my mood– and now, with a kid at home, how much clean up I’m willing to undertake. I don’t like to overuse floral wire or make arrangements that are supposed to stand the test of time. Mine are all woven together organically, or held together with thorn bushes (which act like velcro) and a little bit of luck and patience. This means they could come crumbling down in a matter of hours, days, or months– I’ve seen it all. To me it’s more about the process of creating that builds the beauty, and less about what I want it to look like in the end, so I never care too much about how long the decoration lasts. By the time I’m finished, I’ve already scratched my itch of working with my hands and creating beauty, and the end result is always better than if I planned things too intricately.

Do you like to get your daughter involved in this process now? Why if so?

This is the first year I think she’ll be truly able to participate in decorating and foraging, and I’m so looking forward to trying to guide her in that way. Last year we just started to dabble in things like an advent calendar, and this year I’m hoping we can do a solstice spiral walk. It’s important for me to try to raise her with that blank canvas that I had during this time of year– while also still creating tradition and memories that we’ll have forever. We’ll see how successful I am at pulling that off. Don’t get me wrong– the first ornament she makes in preschool is going straight to the top of the tree, and I can’t wait to have a little fun with her in that sense and put the turnips and the cookies out for Santa this year.

Sustainably foraged Christmas table scape including fruits and wreaths

What do you do with all your foliage after the Holidays for the most sustainable disposal?

Anything that’s brittle enough to be composted goes right in our compost pile, and anything else that has more wood on it, we save to have a small bonfire. Everything goes back to the earth.

Finally, do you have any other tips you use for keeping the Holidays sustainable at your home?

The only thing I can say is to not have preconceived expectations each year of what your Christmas needs to look like. Some Christmas’s we like to have a bare pine tree in a terracotta pot. Others, we decorate a fir from a local tree farm in old vintage ornaments and multi-colored lights. We don’t store a lot of stuff for the holidays– we have one bin we allocate to all the holiday gear, and the rest of our celebrations and decorations come from outside. It’s really not all about the stuff– not the stuff you have, not the stuff you’re getting— none of that. It’s about creating warmth. Spending time with family. And you don’t need stuff to do that.

1. Source Food from local, organic farmers.

Before we get to the Thanksgiving table setting I want to mention the food itself. Supporting local, organic farmers is so important to me. And a wonderful way to be as conscious as possible with cooking. We are so fortunate to be good friends with our closest farmers, Jordan and Clark Fountain who run a beautiful farm right down the road from us here in Maine. They are MOFGA certified and practice regenerative agriculture.

2. Sustainable Table from MasayaCo

This table set from MasayaCo has been a staple for entertaining large groups from the moment it arrived. Such an incredible investment piece for our home and outdoor dining! Why do I love it so much? Masaya has truly set the bar high for what sustainable furniture can look like. MasayaCo uses conservation as a fundamental part of their business model, planting hundreds of thousands of trees each year. By annually planting more trees than they harvest, a replenishing cycle is established providing both environmental and economic benefits. So far their designs have planted over 1.2 million trees. Around 40% of the forests they maintain are kept untouched, allowing for carbon capture and for nature and fauna to thrive and be free.

3. Fine bone china tableware by Feldspar

Cath and Jeremy Brown, founders of Feldspar create objects for life from their Devon studio. They make everything using a method called ‘slip casting’ – pouring liquid clay into plaster moulds. Mould making and industrial bone china production are all listed as critically endangered crafts by the Heritage Crafts Association in the UK. We love Feldspar for a thanksgiving dinner, especially if you are an American living in the UK! And they go especially well with Tudi’s cobalt blue cookware! The perfect china for a Thanksgiving table setting.

4. Chose non-toxic cookware for preparation

I have long been aware of PFAs, or toxic forever chemicals, in so much cookware and have been adamant about having only cast iron cookware I can trust in my kitchen. For anyone wanting to know the backstory on this, I would highly recommend giving the film “Dark Waters” with Mark Ruffalo a watch. I am so thrilled to now have a beautiful cast iron line here on REV called TUDI! You just can’t beat cast iron to cook with. And this cast iron would be a lovely addition to the table setting as you serve.

5. Organic Wines From Dry Farm Wines

If you are looking for some great wines to serve at Thanksgiving this year, look no further than Dry Farm Wines. I have been a Dry Farm Wines convert ever since I had the founder, Todd, on our podcast. I have always loved a good glass of wine at the end of the day or at a dinner party but I learned so much from my conversation from him that I have now been telling everyone who will listen about the benefits of dry farmed wines! Dry Farming means instead of using artificial irrigation methods, farmers rely on natural water resources to ripen their fruit. This means the roots of the vines grow deep to find a natural water source. It is better for the planet, better for the vine, and produces nutrient rich fruit! Todd shares his journey of combining his interests of bio-hacking and luxury wines and why dry farming is undoubtedly the future of growing health-conscious wine and regenerating the earth at the same time!

Listen to our podcast with Todd here!

7. Source flowers/herbs from local farmers to use as accents

Part of the issues around the Holidays is how much plastic pollution and waste we create. Using all natural, plant based decor for your Thanksgiving table setting is a wonderful, elevated and zero waste option. Something as simple as a sprig of Rosemary can work just as well as anything you can buy! And it smells great too!

Flow: Original Medium Roast Whole Bean Coffee –

Purity Coffee’s original blend is a cult favorite for a reason! Flow is formulated for all-around health and coffee drinking without the usual jitters, stomach issues, caffeine crashes, etc. In taste, expect roasted nuts, dark chocolate, and juicy apple-like notes – a coffee everyone will love.

Toups & Co

Long time partners of ours, Toups & Co was built with the idea that regenerative tallow is a true healer for inflamed and sensitive skin. The brand is committed to sourcing 100% grass fed tallow, cold pressed organic oils, and always organic essential oils. They go above and beyond to ensure they are sourcing organic ingredients from the USA. Supporting small family owned farms. Grass fed tallow contains a rich profile of fatty acids, minerals and vitamins. The same compounds that are usually synthetically added to conventional lotions today. Except, tallow is naturally occurring and more bioavailable than synthetic products. Tallow is incredible for any skin type – acne, aging skin, eczema prone skin, and more. Read our interview with Toups & Co founder here!

Our Head of Brand Partnerships has been through bottles and bottles of this tallow for a reason! Toups and Co Frankincense Face balm is perfect for replacing toxic face creams with real nourishment. The perfect introductory tallow balm for anyone in your life – it smells amazing, ultra hydrating, and is multi-use / unisex.

Hydrating Tallow Stick –

A great stocking stuffer and one to throw in your bag! Toups created the Hydrating Tallow Stick to be your adventure companion. Christy Dawn

We’ve been big fans of Christy Dawn for years because of their commitment to regeneration. Rêve en Vert co-founder and CEO, Cora Hilts, had the pleasure of having Christy and Aras of Christy Dawn on our REV On Air Podcast in collaboration with Farmers Footprint last year – listen here – and we learned all about their dedication to ethical fashion, in every way. The brand partnered with the amazing Oshadi Farms to grow their regenerative cotton – the result is farm to closet pieces.

Over the last few years of this partnership, they’ve nourished 219 acres of land. Where their cotton is farmed, ginned, woven, vegetable dyed, and block printed using centuries old methods. They’ve directly addressed climate change. Successfully driving down more than 2 million tons of carbon from the atmosphere along with giving back to the soil by increasing biodiversity to restore a once chemically treated barren land. When you support Christy Dawn you are directly supporting the regeneration of soil. And farm workers being paid a living wage, and techniques that keep centuries old traditions alive.

Mud/wtr

Mushrooms themselves are incredibly regenerative, easy to grow, and even when farmed require a lot less energy to grow than a lot of other crops. That is one reason MUD/WTR has harnessed the power of mushrooms. To create an array of organic coffee alternatives, full of amazing ingredients. In their collection, you will find something for everyone in your life to help you rise, balance and rest throughout the day. From Matcha to an evening rest blend, to their original chai and cacao blend, to a turmeric gold blend.

In all of their powered drinks is an assortment of carefully selected mushrooms. Paired alongside other potent ingredients with incredible benefits. Their mushrooms are USDA certified organic indoor farms in California. They are grown indoors to ensure they are safe from polluted air and heavy metals as mushrooms absorb what is in the air around them. While wild fungi are an essential part of any ecosystem, MUD/WTR chooses to grow their mushrooms inside, as harvesting wild mushrooms at scale could potentially be unsustainable and damaging to local environments and ecosystems. Learn more about their rigorous mushroom growing criteria here.

Frogs Leap Wine

If you love California wine, you may already know about Frogs Leap. They are a winery who have been around since the 1980s producing thoughtfully farmed and produced wine. John T. Williams, who founded Frogs Leap, was truly a step ahead of the organic wine movement. His winery actually became the first winery in Napa Valley to receive an organic certification through the CCOF. Regeneration has become a central part of everything they do. Biodiversity, dry farming, native plants, a focus on soil health, and more all being a focus.

“If you want real pleasure in a wine, if you believe that a wine has a soul, if you believe in the natural quality of wine and its dependence on place, you will be left with the inescapable conclusion, as have I, that we need to grow our vines deeply in their soil.” — John Williams

farmers-footprint-x-reve-en-vert-regenerative-holiday-gift-guide-2024-editorial-landscape-image

The success of dry farming relies heavily on soil health. which is why Frogs Leap are so focused on regenerating their 200 acres of certified organic vineyards. To improve their soil, their farmers plant cover crops and til the soil throughout the growing season, which increases the soil’s capacity to hold water and at the same time helps boil a complex biological life in the soil’s structure. The belief that good wine comes from healthy land and good soil, is how Frogs Leap have prospered. The result of all their hard work and knowledge is incredible wine. Within their offering, you will find an array of wines from daily drinking wines to speciality wines for occasions to celebrate. For the wine lovers in your life and / or for those who need an introduction into how transformative wine made from organic grapes and well nourished soil is.

Our Farmer’s Footprint Gift Guide picks –

2019 Williams Rossi Cabernet Sauvignon –

Frog’s Leap Tete De Cuvee (meaning the best barrel) goes beyond the definition of a single vineyard expression. Hand selected from vineyard blocks on the northern end of the Rutherford bench, this wine is packed with warm blackberry and raspberry fruit and black licorice, with a black pepper and mineral edge to the fruit that adds edge.

Sitting on top of the fruit is a strong herbal-floral streak that adds lift to the fruit and sets the stage for the dusty, balanced tannins and bright acidity. The harmony in this wine balances the warm, generous year with proper structure and length. You can read all about the wine here – it is rare to be able to understand so deeply about the wine you are drinking! This wine is a special bottle – perfect to be shared around a holiday table with loved ones or as a more luxurious gift for a real wine lover.

A lovely gift for anyone who adores wine and wine tastings, but can’t make it to Napa as easily. It is also a fantastic treat for yourself and a partner – something special and unique to do together without having to leave your door!

Like all our brand partners, 99 Counties believe that we should all be farming with nature. Restoring health to the land, and producing food that is tastier and more nutrient dense.

Their pasture-based livestock farmers use practices that are adapted from observing animals in the wild interact with their environment. By farming with nature in this way we can reduce inputs by designing the farm as an ecosystem that sustains itself with minimal outside influence. An example of this is the implementation of holistic planned grazing for cattle. Carefully managing the movement of cattle on pasture. Allowing for periods of recovery for the pasture, allows our farmers to turn sunlight, air, and water into raise nutrient-dense beef. Along with cattle, 99 Counties offer chicken, pork, bison, turkey, lamb, and more.

Purify –

PURIFY is highly cleansing, pH balanced, and microbiome-friendly, effectively cleansing the skin without drying or stripping. It is supported by ingredients that neutralize free radicals, tone sagging skin, suppress bacteria, and prevent and aid in skin imbalances such as rashes, rosacea, and acne. This multi-functional product is a must-have and a great gift / stocking stuffer. PURIFY was created in 2015 to address the hormonal acne of the brand founder’s sister and the mask-related whiteheads of her surgeon father. Since then, it has helped numerous individuals clear their skin of acne, whiteheads, and blackheads. Rich in ceramides, PURIFY supports the skin’s lipid barrier, locking in moisture and shielding against irritation and environmental damage. While it cleanses the skin and regulates oil production, PURIFY also strengthens the lipid barrier, providing both immediate and cumulative benefits.

Renew –

RENEW is an antioxidant powerhouse crafted to combat environmental stress. With added ingredients known to promote collagen production, enhance repair and regeneration, unclog pores, even skin tone, reduce hyperpigmentation, strengthen capillaries, and diminish the appearance of wrinkles, LINNE’s super serum is a skincare essential.

The serum is full of Vitamin C but most isolated forms of vitamin C are highly susceptible to oxidation. As an acid, vitamin C remains stable in acidic solutions, but it quickly oxidizes in neutral or basic solutions exposed to oxygen. Fortunately, vitamin C is notably more stable when delivered in a whole plant extraction form. The concept behind this lies in the fact that when vitamin C is combined with other antioxidants in a natural environment, it becomes less vulnerable than in isolated forms. Through the whole plant extraction of Kakadu Plum, LINNE provide a complete, stable dose of vitamin C, along with superior antioxidants found in this Australian native.

Balance –

BALANCE helps regulate oil production, clear pores, soothe irritation, and promote cellular regeneration. Unlike many acne products that can dry or strip the skin, BALANCE leaves the skin nourished and radiant. Research indicates that individuals with acne have levels of linoleic acid in the lipids on the skin’s surface. Adding omega-6 fatty acid-rich oils, such as black cumin seed – a key ingredient in BALANCE – can effectively address this issue. Additionally, to assist in the treatment and prevention of pimples and blackheads, BALANCE incorporates antiseptic, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory essential oils. The formula also includes ingredients with regenerative qualities to aid in the healing of scar tissue often associated with acne.

The best organic vodka with Sapling Spirits

Our festive cocktail made with Sapling vodka.

The best organic vodka by Sapling Spirits

About Sapling Spirits

To put the best organic vodka to the test, we thought we’d make our favorite cocktail here at REV. The Apple Martini. We are aware more than ever of the importance of cherishing the natural environment in everything that we do. Sapling’s organic vodka is a celebration of just that. It has a wonderful taste and is also meaningful. This low-carbon spirit, which is made in an independent distillery, is planting a tree in the UK as well as in other parts of the world for every bottle purchased.

Here’s a simple step-by-step guide for making our favorite evening martini…

The Organic Apple Vodka Martini…

Ingredients

5 or 6 ice cubes

60ml Sapling Vodka

30ml raw apple cider

30ml ginger beer

The juice of half a lemon

1 slice of apple – a variety of Granny Smith apple

Sprig of rosemary to garnish

Method

Pour out a double shot of Sapling Vodka then squeeze half a lemon over lots of ice into a cocktail shaker.

Add 30 ml of raw cider and 30 ml of ginger beer and pour into the shaker.

Shake well with crushed rosemary sprig for at least 30 seconds then pour it into a martini glass.

Serve with a slice of fresh apple and freshly picked rosemary sprig.

Buy yourself a bottle of the best organic vodka from Sapling here and learn more about the label’s sustainability here.

The Environment

Although we are beginning to see some shifts within the fashion industry, a throwaway culture still remains prevalent. The current fast fashion model encourages consumers to buy cheap, ‘trendy’ clothes. Most of which are often discarded after only a few wears in a bid to chase the next fleeting trend. Viewing clothing as essentially disposable is incredibly detrimental to the environment. Not only because of the vast amount of energy and resources required to produce each garment. But because most of these clothes end up in landfills. Here, synthetic fibers can take hundreds of years to decompose, releasing harmful greenhouse gases into the atmosphere throughout the process.

A capsule wardrobe is considered to be better for the planet. It encourages us to embrace more sustainable approaches when it comes to our clothes. It also means you’ll buy fewer clothes you don’t actually need. Which means less clothes being potentially thrown away and ending up in landfills!

capsule-wardrobe-guide-editorial-landscape-image

Decluttering Sustainably

Start by going through your current wardrobe and consider donating any items you no longer wear. Personally, I find that if I haven’t reached for something in the last 6-12 months. I’m unlikely to wear it again. Donating these clothes is a fantastic way to keep perfectly good garments in circulation. Giving someone else the opportunity to enjoy and cherish pieces you no longer need. Who knows, they might even become someone else’s new favorite!

capsule-wardrobe-guide-editorial-landscape-image

A Neutral Color Palette, Timelessness and Versatility

Keeping most of your essential pieces in neutral colors will make mixing and matching much easier. These could include shades like black, grey, brown, camel, cream and white, and any shades in between! Take a look at your own wardrobe and see which neutral tones complement your skin tone best. If you like a pop of color, you could also incorporate 1 or 2 accent colors you love. Pick colors that work with your complexion. These can add a bit of variety to your outfit and will also pair nicely with your neutral-tone pieces.

Look for timeless pieces you’ll turn to again and again. Consider the different outfits you can create with each piece. By focusing on versatile items, you can maximize your styling options without having to own a multitude of pieces!

The Foundations

We wear underwear every single day. So it’s well worth investing in some sustainable, well-made pieces that will last for years to come. KYE is a considered intimates and lifestyle collection made for your everyday. Designed and handmade in Los Angeles in close partnership with a local, female owned factory. Their bras and briefs are made with environmentally conscious bamboo, offering an exceptionally soft and comfortable feel against your skin! Kye also has a wonderful collection of elevated basic tanks, long sleeve tops and pants, which would fit perfectly if you’re thinking of building a capsule wardrobe.

Another brand we’re loving is Swedish Stockings. Founded on a mission to change and influence the entire hosiery industry towards sustainable production. Each year, 8 billion pairs of tights are produced, worn once and discarded. Making hosiery one of the biggest wear-and-tear items. Swedish Stockings have sought to lead by example. Showing the fashion world that you can produce sustainably, without sacrificing great quality over design.

It’s so worth investing in a pair of durable tights. Particularly in the winter when we’re bound to wear them a few times a week!

Trousers

As with most pieces throughout this editorial, we’re looking for classic styles, in neutral colors, that also flatter your body shape. Think about the versatility of these pieces. Assess how easily they can be paired with other pieces and whether they can be dressed up or down. For example, a pair of well tailored trousers in a neutral color (black, navy or grey) can be worn to work, for a special occasion, or for everyday wear.

It’s also important to consider the changing seasons. While it would be ideal for all your staple trousers to be suitable all year round, this isn’t always realistic! Different seasons call for different fabrics, fits and styles to ensure they’re both comfortable and practical. During the summer months, lightweight, natural materials such as linen or organic cotton are perfect for keeping cool. As the temperature drops, you may want to opt for heavier fabrics like wool.

Dāl The Label, one of our all time favorite brands, has some fantastic capsule wardrobe essentials. Especially when it comes to trousers! The Hemp Wide Leg Trousers in Black are super versatile and made with a flattering high waist. Hemp is also thermoregulating, meaning it keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter! Pair these with the matching Hemp Double Breasted Blazer. The Wide Leg Linen Pants in Natural are a great option if you’re opting for a lighter tone. Pair these with Dal’s Signature Linen-Double Breasted Blazer in Natural.

Skirts

For skirts – our go to brands are Olisitc The Label, Claudent, Dāl The Label and Kōpilā! We’re opting for versatile styles that can be mixed and matched for a number of occasions. An a-line skirt is a universally flattering silhouette which can be dressed up or down. And works well with fitted tops or blouses – depending on the occasion.

We’ve featured the A-Line Cashmere Skirt from Kōpilā’s latest collection. Crafted with 100% pure cashmere, so is perfect for the colder months. You also can’t go wrong with a classic, black midi skirt – the outfit possibilities are endless. Claudent’s Midi Skirt in Black has a tailored a-line shape with subtle front pleating. Claudents pieces protect you from over 98% of UVA/ UVB rays. It’s undoubtedly a summer staple, but can also be worn with tights throughout winter.

Tops

When thinking about tops for a capsule wardrobe, we’re looking for solid colors, classic styles and avoiding loud patterns which are harder to pair with other pieces. By focusing on neutral, solid colors, you can create a more cohesive and versatile collection that can easily mix and match. It’s also worth considering pieces that can be worn alone or layered with others. The brands which are ideal for this are Kye Intimates, Only Essentials, Dāl The Label, and Claudent.

A classic white button-down shirt can be worn alone for a polished look. Or be layered under a sweater or blazer for added warmth and a slightly different style. You could also consider the texture and detailing of a top; subtle embellishments, unique stitching or a non-conventional silhouette. This can give a modern twist to a traditional white shirt and elevate it beyond a basic staple.

Building a capsule wardrobe doesn’t mean you can’t have statement pieces! Olistic The Label have some wonderful sustainable shirts and blouses, that can add a bit of variety to your wardrobe! Here, we’ve featured the Jundo Blouse from their latest AW24 collection. It’s made from luxurious silk organza and can transition beautifully from day to night. We’ve also featured the Mizumi Blouse, which could serve as a pop of color; however, its earthy tones allow it to blend seamlessly with other pieces in your wardrobe.

Knit Sweaters and Cardigans

We are huge fans of knitwear, all year round but especially during the colder months. Knitwear can easily transition from casual to dressy occasions. Whether paired with a midi skirt or simply a pair of jeans! As for any capsule wardrobe, we’re emphasizing  neutral colors to maximize its flexibility when choosing an outfit.

Here, we’ve featured Kōpilā’s Sleeveless Cashmere Polo Neck and HERD’s Wyre Vest in Ecru. These are perfect layering pieces.  They work so well with an organic cotton white shirt underneath, or paired with a blazer. Navygrey also has some lovely knit tanks!

HERD’s Eccleston Jumper in Peat & Sloe Mouline is the ultimate cosy knit – its made using mouline yarn, twisted with a natural and a plant dyed shade together to create a textured effect, so no two pieces are exactly the same. HERD’s Brampton Crew Neck In Ecru and Navygrey’s Border Cable Cardigan in Lait are both perfect for brightening up your winter wardrobe – but still sticking to the neutral theme of a capsule wardrobe.

Dresses

Dresses can be versatile additions to a capsule wardrobe, by choosing styles that work for both summer and winter, though again this is not always realistic! In the warmer months, they can be worn on their own, while in winter, they can be layered with tights, sweaters and boots for added warmth and comfort.

This winter, we’re turning to Olistic’s Sato Dress in Black – it’s timeless, elegant and is ideal for an evening outfit as well as for everyday wear. We’re also loving Dāl The Label’s Smocked Cupro Midi Dress, consciously crafted from the finest cupro. It  features a flattering boat neckline, as well long puff sleeves for a whimsical, feminine style.

Though you can absolutely wear both of these dresses during the summer season – we thought we’d share some other options for the warmer months, with a bit less coverage. The Kiwa Dress by Olisitc The Label is the definition of the perfect, white dress! It’s flattering silhouette and feminine balloon sleeves make it an obvious choice for so many occasions. Another go-to is Dal’s Cupro Bias Slip Dress – so simple, yet so chic!

Jewelry

And finally – although not strictly clothing – adding some staple jewelry can complete your outfit and elevate even the simplest of looks. Minimalist, versatile pieces like a pair of gold studs and a pendant necklace can be easily mixed and matched with almost any outfit. These timeless pieces not only add elegance, but can also make it easy to transition your look from day to night, casual to dressy, all without overwhelming your style. Jewelry doesn’t have to be loud to make an impact; and sometimes the more subtle pieces with an unusual design, shape or texture are the most interesting!

We’ve featured the Crescent Diamond Pendant from Skydiamond – the world’s first carbon negative diamond! Skydiamond alchemise their diamonds in the Cotswold countryside in England, by harvesting carbon from the atmosphere to hold it forever in a diamond. Their crescent collection represents the waxing and waning phases of the moon – this subtle gold pendant is truly so special! Pair with the matching Crescent Stud Earrings to complete your look.

If in doubt, you can never go wrong with a pair of gold hoops, the Small Reclaimed Maresia Hoops feature a subtle asymmetric texture and are made using recycled 18ct gold plating – a touch of sophistication for any outfit!

In 2016, building on centuries of local leather knowledge Billy Tannery transformed a farm building in the Midlands into their own small-batch tannery – the first of its kind to be built in this country for well over 50 years. Today their collection of handmade leather goods puts their vegetable tanned goat and deer leather centre stage. At Billy Tannery, they produce leather as it should be. Tanned entirely in Britain from a previously wasted food by-product, using bark extracts and their innovative microtannery process that recycles 90% of the water and turns waste into compost.

For The Coffee Addict: Purity Coffee

We all have a true coffee lover in our life and Purity Coffee makes some of the most sustainable and delicious coffee beans on the market. Founders Andrew and Amber founded Purity because they wanted to share coffee that was actually beneficial for the body and for our planet.

Through their research, they found that coffee is actually not unhealthy but rather the opposite. Over 19,000 studies have been done to measure coffee’s health benefits, and their results have pointed to coffee’s healing properties. Coffee has even been shown to decrease the risk of diabetes, heart disease, liver disease, Alzheimer’s, and multiple cancers. Much of these benefits are thanks to antioxidants called chlorogenic acids, or CGAs. Purity has a very unique ethos – to make a coffee product that has health as its top priority.

The brand is dedicated to conscious and organic sourcing, creating specialty grade beans, precision roasting, and focused fulfillment that ensures their coffee is stored, packaged, and delivered perfectly so that consumers get the freshest coffee possible.

That’s why its worth spending a little more on a good quality pair that lasts longer and feel better – it also means fewer replacements, which is better for you and for the planet!

We’re loving their Meja Net Tights and the Tora Shimmery Tights for the festive season!

For The Outdoorsy One: Billy Tannery

In 2016, building on centuries of local leather knowledge Billy Tannery transformed a farm building in the Midlands into their own small-batch tannery – the first of its kind to be built in this country for well over 50 years. Today their collection of handmade leather goods puts their vegetable tanned goat and deer leather centre stage. At Billy Tannery, they produce leather as it should be. Tanned entirely in Britain from a previously wasted food by-product, using bark extracts and their innovative microtannery process that recycles 90% of the water and turns waste into compost.

Our Top Picks:

The Ziptop Backpack – A leather zip top backpack, a smaller, lighter-weight version of their signature Roll Top bag. Handmade in Somerset from their exceptional bark tanned goat leather.

The Journal – An A5 leather bound notebook journal with refillable pages made from recycled leather fibres. Handmade in Leicestershire from sustainable goat leather produced in their small-batch tannery.
