World Health Day – Our Top 10 Tips for Sustainable Wellness
This World Health Day we are thinking a lot about what “wellness” means in a time when we are confronted by pollution, climate change and a bevy of chemicals in almost everything we find. Most recently it’s been found that we actually have microplastics in our blood streams due to the insane amount of plastic being produced in the world today, and we don’t yet know the health implications of that. It can seem overwhelming to navigate the world of health, but here at REV we like to look at everything through the lens of sustainability and so that’s just what we are doing today!
See below our top ten wellness tips for sustainable wellness that looks at planetary as well as personal health.
1. Switch to a more plant focused diet.
This is a huge sustainable wellness tip for both the health of our planet and our own personal health. Whilst we would never tell anyone to completely change their diets without consulting a medical professional, all of us could eat a lot more plants and plant protein. To help cut back on the emissions and large carbon footprints associated with meat and dairy. Our recent podcast episode with Anna Jones of We Are Food is a great place to start if you are looking for a bit of motivation and a guiding hand!
2. Pay attention to soil.
Soil health is key to both human and planetary health. So, caring for our dirt can greatly impact many areas of well-being! One of our favorite destinations for learning about and engaging with the soil is Bloom Farm. Bloom Farm is nestled in Oley Valley, PA. And arguably has some of the most incredibly fertile land in the country. They host workshops, retreats, and farm tours. A perfect way to understand the role that the soil plays in health. Arrange a visit here and listen to our podcast with the founder, Sam Nama-Sinkam, here!
3. Turn screens off an hour before bed. Set a calming mood.
We are all guilty of this. Constantly scrolling through our phones. Even as we are in bed and our bodies should be starting to relax for sleep. But the blue light and stimulation we get from our phones and computers can really affect our ability to fall asleep. Our next sustainable wellness tip would be to leave your phone outside of your bedroom. Instead invest in an alarm clock to wake you up. Also buy (from your local independent bookstore!) some lovely books to read before bed.
4. Get moving for at least 30 minutes a day.
Movement is an obvious wellness tip but one that we often overlook or find it hard to make time for. But this can be as simple as a nice walk after work. Or a gentle yoga class. When we do get moving, we like to use non toxic activewear from Seela. All Seela activewear is made using castor bean fiber, Ricinus Communis. Wildly grown and sustainably sourced, this fabric creates a perfect synthesis of performance and environmental awareness. The fabric is certified by DIN CERTCO and OEKO-TEX STD 100 CLASS I systems; and it is biodegradable. This is a stunning line of activewear that has no nasties!
5. Focus on gut health.
We are big believers that health is very much connected to our gut, and have been having some conversations around this with experts! One of our most beloved podcasts is with a man who has really made this connection between healthy soil, healthy gut, healthy people is Zach Bush MD and we encourage anyone wanting to learn more from an expert to tune into his podcast episode!
6. Eat as locally as possible.
We’re huge fans of eating locally for the smaller carbon footprint and sustainable wellness. It’s one of our favorite sustainable wellness tips for both you and the planet! Local eating can also really benefit your health since food retains more nutrients when it’s consumed soon after being harvested from the ground. To get the full benefits of the vegetables and fruits you eat, try to go as close to the food source as possible. It’s a simple wellness tip that makes a big difference.
Our best wellness tips for achieving this include seeking out your local farmer’s market. Vendors here often harvest their produce that very morning. You can also try growing some of your own vegetables at home! Herbs and potted tomatoes are perfect starter plants and among our top wellness tips for beginners. No matter where you live. These small changes can transform both your health and your connection to the food you eat.
7. Avoid plastics as much as you can
An investigation, co-ordinated by Orb Media in 2017, found that most of the 259 bottles of water tested were contaminated with microplastics. They have been reported in tap water, beer and many other foods. And now people will be surprised that almost all bottled water appears to be contaminated too (University of East Anglia). There was also a recent study we read in The Guardian that for the first time a study found that in a majority of people miscroplastics had shown up in their bloodstream.
Microplastic pollution has been detected in human blood for the first time, with scientists finding the tiny particles in almost 80% of the people tested.
The discovery shows the particles can travel around the body and may lodge in organs. The impact on health is as yet unknown. But researchers are concerned as microplastics cause damage to human cells in the laboratory and air pollution particles are already known to enter the body and cause millions of early deaths a year. Giving up plastic will help you and the environment from exposing even more of this.
8. Choose clean vitamin supplements
Sanbera is our new favorite line for easy, daily tablets with a huge kick of goodness. One of the most transformative things we can do for ourselves is create rituals, day and night, focused on our health and wellbeing. With clean, premium, and powerful ingredients, this dietary supplement seamlessly meets the body’s nutritional requirements during the day with a super-effective alliance of antioxidants, twelve essential vitamins, and six vital minerals to strengthen immunity and boost energy levels. At Sanbera, they have worked tirelessly to bring modern science into those moments: A daily and nightly dose of wellbeing designed to improve your habits, create healthy rituals and deliver tangible results for your body and mind.
9. Go all in on Organic
According to the Soil Association, if all of Europe’s agricultural land followed organic principles, farming-related emissions could drop by 40-50% by 2050 and with plenty of healthy food to feed a growing population. Organic farms also do not use any chemical pesticides or fertilizers, and rely on natural alternatives, therefore they don’t emit those emissions either. Since soils store more carbon than our atmosphere and all the world’s plants combined, maintaining healthy soils is one of our best ways to fight climate change. That is why organic farming is so important, because the practice is based on nourishing the soil, which in turn helps the soil build carbon! Avoiding pesticides is hugely important for our health, and fighting climate change is hugle important for the health of the earth!
10. Finally, devote time to purposeful activities and engagements.
We have always found Dan Buetner who has written and researched extensively the Blue Zones – areas on earth where people live the longest and healthiest lives. Some of his key findings are fascinating in terms of what they eat (mostly plants), what they drink (coffee and wine are in there – yay!) and that they are all physically active for the entirety of their lives. But one less obvious thing he found is that they all have a sense of purpose throughout their entire time on earth – whether that be found if family, community endeavors or simply maintaining their garden. As he says:
“Purpose is the convergence of values, passions, what you like to do, what you’re good at. Then the important part, in my opinion, is there’s no purpose unless there’s an outlet for it. The best outlet I think is your job because you do it every day, but 69% or so of Americans don’t find purpose at work. So then it’s got to be your family, or volunteering, or a hobby. But it’s got to be putting those passions and expertise and gifts to work.
Once you identify that, man, it’s just like supercharging your engine. People with a strong sense of purpose [are] more likely to take their medicines, they’re more likely to be physically active, their mind is more likely to be engaged, they’re more likely to eat the right food, to make the effort to connect socially. It’s just so fundamental. I like to say that if you could put purpose in a capsule, it would be a blockbuster drug, because we know people with a strong sense of purpose retrospectively live about eight years longer than people with no sense of purpose.” – Dan Buetner

The Best Father’s Day Gifts For 2025
We wanted to share our list of the best Father’s Day gifts for the different dads in your life. From sustainable mezcal to outdoor grills! Before we get started Thank you so much to our friends at Kindred Motorworks for sponsoring this editorial!
Big Green Egg
Best Father’s Day Gifts – For the dad who likes to grill!
Gifting a Big Green Egg is truly gifting someone something that will last them for ages. The Big Green Egg is such a favorite amongst our team, and we love cooking on them. The Eggs are a modern-day evolution of ancient cookers, made thoughtfully and made to last. They are not gas or propane grills but rather are fueled by natural charcoal and incredible natural woods for flavor. They aim to manufacture all their products using sustainable materials.
The Big Green Egg ceramic was partly developed by NASA and the production process takes place in North America according to the strictest quality standards, which explains the exceptionally high quality. It has superb insulating properties and can withstand extreme temperatures and temperature fluctuations. The heat-reflecting ceramic and the shape of the Big Green Egg allow air to circulate perfectly inside the EGG, causing the food to cook evenly at the desired temperature. The excellent air circulation comes with an added advantage; because the hot air remains in the EGG, it makes it economical to use. Your charcoal will burn for longer and will generate fewer ashes.

Top UK Florists for the Most Sustainable Flowers in 2025
Bringing nature and beauty indoors is proven to uplift spirits, something we could all benefit from! Treating ourselves, or a loved one, to some beautiful blooms is a wonderful ‘pick-me-up’. However as with everything we do here at REV, we want to consume as consciously as possible. Here we share with you our top UK florists for the most sustainable flowers.
Petalon
Petalon was born from a desire to offer beautiful yet affordable flowers, in a more sustainable way. Six years after launching, founders Florence and James relocated to Cornwall where they now grow their own flowers.
Petalon’s deliveries are carbon-neutral so you can worry less about the carbon footprint of having a beautiful bouquet! They also donate 5% of all profits to the Bee Collective. A not-for-profit enterprise that helps Londoners help bees. And for every 100 bouquets sent by post, they plant a tree locally.
Arena Sustainable Flowers
For colourful bouquets that make a statement, all of Arena’s flowers are ethically sourced from certified Fairtrade farms. The company are dedicated to working with partners who share their commitment for bettering the welfare of communities and the environment.
For every bouquet of sustainable flowers sold, Arena will plant a tree in countries including Haiti, Mozambique and Madagascar. Countries who are experiencing devastating deforestation.
Alma Proust Sustainable Flowers
Based in the beautiful countryside of West Sussex, Milli Proust grows and displays her flowers with the utmost consideration to sustainable processes and seasonality. “All of my stems are all grown in rhythm with nature, with organic practises in a passionate effort to protect and regenerate the surrounding wildlife.”
We also love Milli’s newsletter and blog posts. Not only are these monthly odes beautifully written and photographed, they are an absolute treasure for learning more about seasonal growing!

Shida Preserved Sustainable Flowers
Shida Preserved Flowers is one of our favourite services offering long lasting preserved and sustainable flowers. A beautiful and sustainable option that can be enjoyed for more than just a week or so. Perfect for those who want a low-maintenance bouquet! For a more minimal arrangement, we love styling their single stems in Feldspar’s bud vase.
All of their flowers are treated with a special preservation method, that uses 100% plant-based glycerin and dyes. “The treatment maintains the cell structure of the plants. Leaving them feeling soft and retaining their natural beauty for many months.”
Studio Dandelion
A particular favourite of our co-founder, Cora, Studio Dandelion has an ethos that we at REV truly resonate with – “beautiful, seasonal flowers with an eco-friendly mind at the heart of it”. Based in London, Eloise sources her flowers directly from farms and the flower market.
Organic Blooms
Selling beautiful and seasonal British cut flowers, Organic Blooms are more than just a florist. They are a social enterprise providing expertise to those people who can benefit from learning the workings of a flower nursery and florist business.
Organic Blooms are proud to be Soil Association Organic Certified. Meaning their seasonal, sustainable flowers are grown with the upmost consideration to people, the environment and wildlife. Without any artificial chemicals.
Display With Feldspar Studio
Produced in the UK, Feldspar Studio create timeless pieces for home. That are made to last lifetimes. They make all their items out of fine bone china, which is the strongest type of ceramic, in a family run pottery factory in Stoke on Trent. In three designs, their vases are perfect for big bouquets or single stems.
Fern Verrow
One of our favourite suppliers of organic fresh fruit and veg, Fern Verrow is a biodynamic farm in Herefordshire. Biodynamic farming is a holistic practice which focuses on replenishing the soil in order to grow healthy and nutritious plants, in harmony with the Earth.
Supplying the sustainable London restaurant, Spring, with beautiful arrangements, Fern Verrow also allow customers to add a bunch of their seasonal cut flowers to your produce box delivery for a little pick-me-up!

Slow Living with Fanny Singer of Always Home & Permanent Collection
We welcome Fanny Singer to talk about her new book Always Home. Inspired by time spent in the kitchen with her iconic mother, Alice Waters, and her sustainable homeware line, Permanent Collection! Fanny talks about her inspiration for slow living and also the importance of supporting regenerative farming.

“Whatever object has been deemed worthy of acquisition has been measured according to a rubric of timeless value, eternal relevance, and beauty.”
– Fanny Singer
Our interview with Fanny Singer…
First of all, can you tell us about your goals when it comes to living a slower lifestyle?
I’ve always been someone who has 100 professional irons in the fire at once. I wear a lot of hats. From founder of Permanent Collection, to art critic, to recipe developer, memoirist, cook, art historian, etc. What I really hope is to pare down this professional landscape. And to focus on those things that are really nourishing to me, giving them my (much less divided) attention.
Can you tell us a bit about what inspired you to co-found Permanent Collection?
All my time studying art (I have a PhD in art history) and looking at objects and thinking about what gives something enduring, time-defying qualities, made me curious to see if I could develop a line of objects that contained within them those same attributes. Growing up in my mother, Alice Waters‘s household also helped form my aesthetic sensibility. She is very particular about beauty, and about quality, and very rigorous in her approach to design. Having always loved the slowly-acquired, antique pieces in her kitchen collection as a child. A natural inclination, I suppose, to become attached to objects (how un-Buddhist of me!). Perhaps it was a natural thing to want to develop a line of functional design objects down the road. Things that would take on the same heirloom quality as those pieces I grew up with.
How does the name of the company reflect your values when it comes to items of the home?
Permanent Collection was named after the ’permanent collections’ of every great museum around the world. The core collections on which museums are built. I chose the name because it carried in it that allusiveness. The implication that whatever object has been deemed worthy of acquisition has been measured according to a rubric of timeless value, eternal relevance, and beauty. My hope is that the objects Permanent Collection offers reflect a similar level of consideration. I want people to buy things only if they love them and I want them to last forever and ever and ever.
How do you find artisans and makers that resonate with the idea of forever pieces?
Thanks to years of traveling in art and design circles professionally, it’s not been terribly difficult to discover or meet artists or artisans who share Permanent Collection’s values. But we also do lots of research. We look for people who are working in a slow, careful and sustainable manner. I’m not interested in mass producing objects, but I am interested in properly compensating the people whose work I value. It’s becoming a harder and harder proposition. In this world of mass consumption and fast fashion to make things of quality and still stay afloat. And quality doesn’t come cheap! But it also means that artisans have begun to come to us. They know that we will honor them and their work. And now that we’re five years in we do have something to show for ourselves. There’s a growing symbiosis in the project.
What is your most used home item?
The mortar and pestle we make for Permanent Collection hand-thrown by studio potter Colleen Hennessey in Mendocino, California! I use it at least once, if not twice, a day to make pounded garlic salad vinaigrettes. It’s also great for pounding pestos and grinding dry spice rubs.
And you wrote a lovely book in 2020 call Always Home: A Daughter’s Recipes and Stories, that is such a lovely homage to your connection to food. How has cooking been an activity that is grounding and meaningful to you?
Cooking is so much a part of my identity that I find it virtually indivisible from other aspects of ‘life’. Which is, however, to say that when I am not able to cook. Or gather people for any stretch of time. I feel completely alienated from myself.
Your mother is a renowned chef in terms of thinking about food in a local, seasonal and sustainable way. How has she passed down ways of thinking about food and the home that speaks to deep meaning?
I so completely embody my mother’s values. That I have to think there was no active tutelage or instruction; that I merely inherited them as if they were a set of genetic traits. But, then again, her convictions and ethics were conveyed through the emotional currency of love. And the devotion of home cooked food. Both of which were such seductive mediums through which to absorb lessons or values. She calls me her “proof of concept.” For the work she does in the public school system with The Edible Schoolyard Project. I can’t argue with that!
“In the broadest, most aspirational sense, slow food means a very basic return to our senses. And to an approach to cultivating food that connects the basic human necessity of eating with the health and vitality and biodiversity of the land.”
– Fanny Singer
What does the slow food movement mean to you?
In the broadest, most aspirational sense, slow food means a very basic return to our senses. And to an approach to cultivating food that connects the basic human necessity of eating with the health and vitality and biodiversity of the land. Slow food is not just something that happens at the table. After a deliberately sourced and cooked meal is served. But something that also happens in the ground. To be committed to slow food is really to be committed to farmers. To seeking out the stewards of the land. Farmers whose methods are not just sustainable but regenerative. They are the only hope we have for continuing to survive on this planet!
What are your biggest concerns about food? And how we prepare and consume it in the most sustainable way?
As with the past several decades really, my concern is that we’re not taking seriously enough. The need to pivot away from carbon-intensive, mono-cultural, massive-scale commercial agriculture. We should urgently move resources into regenerative, carbon-sequestering farming. Of course, it would ideally be the only way we grow food and should really be a governmental initiative. Still, I don’t discount the power that we have as individual consumers. We can (and should) be as committed to buying as conscientiously as possible whenever we can.
How do you shop for ingredients and food in a slow way?
I buy all my produce for the week at the Hollywood Farmers Market (my local) every Sunday. If I buy directly at the farmers market, everything stays fresh for ages and it ends up being pretty economical. I rarely shop elsewhere but I’m pretty strict about supplementing only with organic products from small stores like Cookbook. If you don’t have a farmers market, I recommend CSA boxes. Or doing research to see what small local farms are in your area. I lived in Cleveland for a stretch over the summer and I had all the regenerative organic farms mapped. I was able to get beautiful produce on par with what I buy in California. There was also a great composting pickup there called Rust Belt Riders. It often exists, it just takes looking! Whole Foods is not the only answer!
What is your favorite meal to make when you have the time to prepare something truly excellent?
I love to make a long, languid, savory brunch if I have the time (and friends!). My favorite thing to prepare is a kind of (very loosely) Persian/Turkish hybrid breakfast. Fresh cheeses and honey, flatbreads, marash chili-sprinkled softly hard-boiled eggs, za’atar strewn labneh, fig jam, olives, slices of cucumber, tomato and peach. And just HEAPS of parsley, tarragon and mint dressed scantily in lemon juice and olive oil.
What are the simple pleasures that give you the greatest joy?
Being with my family. And our family dog. A hilarious little mutt called Chula who looks like a corgi mixed with bull terrier and cattle dog. Making improvised meals with my partner, Matt. Shopping at the LA farmers markets! All the citrus! Passionfruit! Herbs! Lettuce!
What does an ideal day look like for you?
A cup of green sencha tea. Some time for writing. A long run or walk. A meal with friends that we all cook together.
With a hope that people will begin to embrace slower ways of living. Can you give us all one tip for how to embrace a slower style of life?
Walk in nature every day!

Our Morning Routine: 5 Steps for a Great Start to Your Day
A good morning routine can energize us for the day ahead. These are our five sustainable tips to kickstart your day and set you up for success and well-being!
Brought to you in partnership with some of our amazing ethical brand partners.
What we are drinking: MUD/WTR
MUD\WTR is a great drink. It has a blend of mushrooms, 100% organic ingredients, and Ayurvedic herbs. They are all beneficial. With a fraction of coffee’s caffeine, you get energy without jitters or brain fog. So, this is our go-to morning drink. MUD\WTR uses both the mycelial biomass and fruiting bodies of mushrooms. It allows them to complete their full growth cycle. For the morning, we love the Original Blend. This mushroom blend is all you need for better focus and energy. The benefits of the particular blend include antioxidants, immune support, and mood. It’s a great way to start the day!
Our favorite morning probiotic: Seed
In 2025, REV will focus on nourishing a healthy gut microbiome. Research keeps showing more benefits to it! Along with diet, relaxation, and exercise, we turn to Seed for a bit of extra support in our morning routines.
You host a community of trillions of microorganisms. They include 38 trillion bacteria that live in and on you. They digest food, manage inflammation, and make key vitamins, metabolites, and neurotransmitters. This is the microbiome. It is deeply linked to our well-being, both mental and physical. We are learning more about it every day.
Our non-toxic morning skincare routine: Summer Solace Skincare
There is nothing we love more than a little time for self care in our morning routines, and Summer Solace’s Regenerative Tallow® Skincare is perfect for sharing with your whole family. Sustainably crafted in Oakland, California, using pure, hand-poured suet tallow from pasture-raised, grass-finished cattle. No fillers. No whipping. Just nutrient-rich, traditional skincare that adapts to the seasons! Each product is thoughtfuly crafted from organic ingredients and inspired by the healing power of traditional fats. Their unrefined tallow balms deliver deep hydration and unparalleled nourishment, restoring your skin’s natural balance. Discover Summer Solace Tallow and elevate your morning beauty routine with locally sourced, nutrient-dense skincare that nourishes your skin while supporting a regenerative future.
Getting dressed for some movement in organic activewear: Industry Of All Nations
When it comes to what we are putting on our skin, we are very aware of hidden toxins like petrochemicals in conventional activewear. We have turned to all natural fabrics brands, and one of the team’s favorite lines is Industry of all Nations, who utilize organic, recycled, or biodegradable materials. On top of their sustainable materials, they work to bring manufacturing back to the original makers at the source of the raw materials, utilizing ancestral methods paired with modern practices for the next chapter of humanity.
Listening to something inspiring: REV On Air with Camilla Marcus
We love nothing more than women changing the world. Regenerative agriculture is a big focus for us this year. Our podcast with Camilla Marcus of Westbourne combines female entrepreneurship and organic farming. Two topics close to our hearts. Meet AIZOME Organic Bedding: Healthier Sleep, Happier Planet, Zero Synthetics
We recently had the pleasure of interviewing Michel of AIZOME for the REV On Air Podcast. Click here to listen to that wonderful conversation. We were so inspired by AIZOME’S mission, and we’ve become completely obsessed with their organic cotton bedding. In this editorial we do a deep dive on the brand and what makes them so unique. Especially in comparison to conventional bedding.
Thanks so much to our friends at AIZOME for making this editorial possible!
Who knew that when you climb into bed at night, nuzzle your head into your pillow, and wrap yourself in your duvet that those sheets could be so toxic (for us and our planet). And create so much unnecessary waste? We weren’t totally aware of this until we met Michel of AIZOME.
The Issues with Conventional Textiles and Dyes –
The textile industry produces a staggering amount of products each year, with petrochemicals making up about 80% of that total. These items are often crafted from non-biodegradable polyester and synthetic fabrics that simply won’t decompose. Unfortunately, most consumers toss these textiles aside within just a year, leading to around 92 million tons ending up in landfills every year. Experts warn that this figure could soar to 132 million tons by 2030.
But there’s another issue lurking beneath the surface: the toxic dyes used to color these fabrics. Manufacturers frequently rely on dyes derived from oil, tar, heavy metals, and other hazardous chemicals to achieve the vibrant colors that shoppers desire. 60% of dyes are AZO dyes, which are synthetic dyes that can contain more than 20 known carcinogens….
The excess water that is used in the textile industry is sadly returned back to our planet full of toxic residual dyes and hazardous chemicals. “Wastewater disposal is seldom regulated, adhered to or policed, meaning big brands, and the factory owners themselves are left unaccountable.” (source) The toxicity of dyes is dangerous for garment workers, consumers, and are filling our waterways globally making clean water inaccessible for communities. Rivers in China are literally turning black from all the dyes…(source) AZO dyes are water-soluble, which means we can absorb them through our skin…they can cause allergic reactions, endocrine disruptors, and can even cause cancer. All of this is what fueled the creation of AIZOME – they knew they had to do better.
We exist in our textiles constantly – whether that be our clothes, towels, or sheets. When it comes to bedding, we can spend roughly 8-10 hours wrapped up in them. Sleep is such a vital time for our bodies to recover, process, and prepare for the next day. The last thing we need is to be exposed to chemicals during that time.
The Story of AIZOME –
When co-founder, Michel’s mother was diagnosed with cancer, treatments caused her skin to become extremely sensitive. As she spent more and more time in bed, she experienced unrelenting skin irritation and the development of black sores, which led to tremendous discomfort. A doctor explained that the dark, synthetic dyes in her bed sheets were likely causing her irritation. Since her immune system had weakened severely, her body could no longer shield her skin from the chemicals that manufacturers had embedded in the fibers.
After making the switch to an undyed textile, her skin irritation significantly decreased. Michel witnessed how dramatically textiles affected his mother’s quality of life. From there, Michel and his partner Misa began to ask questions about the textile industry. As we’ve already shared, what they discovered was truly shocking and they knew they had to create something better. For consumers and for the planet.
“The textile industry is the 3rd biggest polluting industry in the world after food production and construction. In terms of waste water, in terms of released chemicals, in terms of CO2. It’s a huge industry and sometimes we say employs 1 in 6 people in the world. It employs hundreds of millions or billions of people who are directly in contact with these chemicals that we carelessly use in the industry.”
– Michel May, Co-Founder of AIZOME
AIZOME Bedding –
Together with a team of scientists, Michel and Misa developed an innovative method to unlock the benefits of plant-based dyeing for home textiles while still maintaining vibrancy and durability. Their cotton bedding sheets are naturally antibacterial, Organic GOTS Certified, checked by a third-party lab for known dangerous chemicals, and certified by the National Eczema Association – their sheets tick all the boxes. AIZOME’S beautiful bedding is even infused with medicinal properties – incredible right? The name AIZOME comes from a centuries-old Japanese craft that used to infuse the clothing of Samurai warriors with indigo’s medicinal properties to provide the Samurai with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that could offer protection to wounded skin. Michel and Misa harnessed this method for their bedding so that we can be naturally protected from bacteria while we sleep!
Everything that AIZOME uses is so natural that the wastewater they are left with after the dyeing process can be applied to your skin…not many brands can say this. Their original dyeing method, AIZOME ULTRA™, only uses plants, water, and ultrasound. Along with indigo, they use plants like Rubia and Sumac, which offer a massive range of health benefits due to their anti-inflammatory properties. They use ultrasound to infuse their textiles with the plant’s color pigments and properties. These high frequency waves literally press the dye into every cavity of the fiber! This process uses 200x less water than conventional dyeing and produces no toxic wastewater but instead water that is actually beneficial.
AIZOME launched their wastewater as a serum for the skin, called WASTECARE™. The first batch of WASTECARE™ was sent to key opinion leaders in textile, fashion, and healthcare industries, delivering the ultimate proof: using synthetic, harmful chemicals in textile production is a CHOICE, not a necessity, and it is a choice that is ruining lives and the planet, for no other reason than that we have normalized toxicity in textile dyes and then disempowered consumers to know what they are buying. At AIZOME, they have said, “no more”.

Our Guide To a Non Toxic Baby Registry
We asked Rev’s Head of Brand Partnerships and mom to Ayla, @taylorblair1, to share with us how to build a sustainably minded baby registry. It can be hard to figure out what you really need for the postpartum period and the newborn stage in a world that is plagued with overconsumption. Taylor really believes less is more when it comes to the first few months, but her guide is based off her own personal experience. Below you’ll find Taylor’s postpartum essentials and eco baby essentials for a non toxic baby registry!
Milky Oat’s Organic Postpartum Delivery Service
I can’t recommend a meal delivery service more. Having your meals taken care of for the first 42 days (at least) means that you and your partner can recover and soak up your newborn without having to stress about cooking or meal prep. If you are California based, then look no further than Milky Oat. They are a postpartum meal delivery service that provides amazing and organic postpartum nourishment. They provide many different options, but I can’t recommend their six-week plan enough because those first 42 days post birth are so key to rest and nourish yourself.
Food and nutrition play such a huge role in both recovery and sustaining yourself while you breastfeed. I truly have never been so hungry as when I’m breastfeeding! Luckily, Milky Oat provides not just delicious meals but wonderful snacks and drinks that can even help with lactation. They also have incredible tinctures and a botanical ghee that you can get nationwide, so even if you are out of state, you can still get your hands on the Milky Oat goodness. They have tinctures for lactation, energy, immune support, and emotional support. All things new moms need on hand! And a perfect non toxic item to add to your baby registry.
Jorgen House Ethical Maternity Wear
I love nothing more than pieces that will last you through different stages of life. Pregnancy, postpartum and beyond. Jorgen House’s maternity wear is a non toxic registry must! They make the most comfortable and supportive bras, leggings, and tops that you can live in during the postpartum period. Their nursing bras especially are my personal go-to – they are comfy enough to wear to sleep! They allow easy and effortless access to the breast so baby can feed with ease.
Charlie Crane LEVO Rocker
I think some kind of rocker is an essential and a perfect thing to add to a non toxic registry as they can be on the expensive side. We loved our Charlie Crane LEVO baby rocker because it will last your baby around seven months, and it is made from great materials that are responsibly sourced. A rocker can be a great tool to soothe baby when it feels like nothing else will work! Plus, you always need somewhere safe and comfy to put baby when you need a break.
DYPER Delivery Service
DYPER are my go-to eco diaper in the US because they are the most responsibly made disposable diaper on the market. They are 100% transparent about their entire supply chain and materials so you can really find out exactly what is going on your baby’s bottom. Their delivery and pickup service is such a perfect addition to your non toxic baby registry. Their REDYPER™ program ensures that diapers don’t just sit in landfill. They have partnered with a select group of licensed facilities that take the DYPER diapers and wipes and turn them into compost them into soil in just 14-16 weeks! Such an amazing initiative. This service is currently available in Los Angeles, Nashville, Austin, New York, Philadelphia, and in the Bay Area.
Mini Bloom Natural Baby Care
Natural nappy cream and bath care can be hard to find but Mini Bloom creates my favorite products that are completely safe for baby and thoughtfully made. Their nappy cream continues to be a staple in our home, and we have been using it since our baby was just a few weeks old. It cures nappy rash overnight. The Mini Bloom Discovery Kit has everything you need. From diaper rash relief cream to organic nipple balm, to hair and body wash. Their products are always free of parabens, sulfates, silicones, toxins, synthetic fragrance, and harsh ingredients. They always use organic plant-based ingredients whenever possible, and their packaging is fully recyclable or even biodegradable. A wonderful item to add to your non toxic baby registry,
Lovevery Play Mat and Toys
I am a huge fan of Lovevery because all their play kits are created with responsible and considered materials, with toys designed for different stages of development. You can add their subscription service to your registry, and you will receive new toys as your baby grows. Their Play Gym is a non toxic baby registry essential. We absolutely loved ours and it was brilliant for tummy time, and it was wonderful entertainment when our baby wasn’t mobile yet. The play mat is made with sustainably sourced wood, baby safe materials like organic cotton, and everything is thoroughly tested, and shipped carbon neutral.
Nontoxic and Organic Baby Clothes
You can never go wrong with adding organic baby clothes to your registry. My favorite brand is Pehr as they make a variety of baby essentials that are all made with 100% organic cotton. Their onesies are incredibly soft, easy to get on, and come in the cutest patterns. Their baby clothing bundles are a perfect gift as they come with essentials. In the early days, I kept our baby just in a diaper so we were getting as much skin to skin as possible so don’t go too crazy with clothes! They also grow so rapidly…so only a few bits of necessary for those early months.
Nuna’s Non-Toxic MESA Infant Car Seat
Car seats can be expensive, so it is a great gift to ask friends and family for. Finding a nontoxic car seat is incredibly hard! Nuna make my favorite car seats because they use environmentally friendly merino wool Tencel. Additionally, Nuna don’t spray their products with fire retardant. Most conventional brands do! It also fits into lots of different strollers, making it easy to transfer a sleeping baby from car to stroller.
Artipoppe Baby Carrier
16 months into motherhood and I still use my Artipoppe carrier every single day. My carrier has been with me since my baby was a few weeks old. It is how I got her to sleep and how I got things done! A must add to your registry…They come in a variety of colors and patterns, but the brand only uses natural and safe materials like organic cotton or hemp. The Zeitgeist Baby Carrier is my favourite as it is so comfy and supportive. The Winter Insert is a must if your little one is born around the cooler months as it keeps little one snug!
